Glad your doing great Cheesy!! But be careful with the sugar counts, if your sugar goes down that low try taking a little bit of orange juice with some sugar added to it, just a tablespoon that is enough to bring it back up. This is what my Dad used to do with my Mom and still does. Before she goes to bed every night he gives her a piece of candy. My Mom went into a diabetic coma a few years back while she was sleeping at night, it was a very scary thing for my Dad to go through. You will get it straightened out soon, you just went through a major surgery my friend it all takes time to get back to normal.

Went to see my cardiologist today, for the first time since he did the heart catherization on me. He was VERY happy with how i progressed since the surgery.
I told him "When you came in and told me i had 6 blockages, all i could say was OH CRAP!(but i used the "S" word) I wasn't expecting anything that major." He said to me "Neither was I!"
He also told me something he didn't say before the operation........he told me, "AL, you were in the very critical stage. If we hadn't caught it when we did..........." Then he said "But look at you now! You look great! April 10th is YOUR day!" I didn't know what he meant.....so i asked him, and he said "April 10th you are cleared to do anything you want. You can lift, do any normal activities. See you in a year!"
But my blood sugars are REALLY messed up, and i told him that. Last night, it went down to 60. Had i been asleep, I probably never would have woke up. So my cardiologist called my regular MD, and i have an appointment with him tomorrow to try to straighten it out. It would suck to survive major heart surgery, then die because of medication.

My wife seems to think i have some great purpose that God has kept me around for. I don't have a CLUE what that is. Guess i'll see!
She calls me a "prophet" now.
I can't wait to see whats in store.
In the time being, i "baby sit" our Chihuahua, Seth, while my wife goes off to work.

Glad to hear the good news, you blessed man!

I heard a quote, and what your wife told you reminded me of it. "There are 2 great moments in a man's life. The moment he was born, and the moment he figures out why."

"Cheesey" wrote:

Thats HEAVY Formo......and SO true. I never heard that comment before. I've had alot of what i consider "important" times in my life.....some where God graciously SHOWED me why i was here. I knew something was wrong with me (other then the "obvious"....LOLOL!!!) but had NO clue how close i was to "checking out". Not ignoring the fact that i felt the tightness in my chest, telling my wife, and having her insist i tell the doc undoubtedly saved my life. So, for some reason, God wasn't ready for me yet. The best part for me was, that i didn't have a massive heart attack. I had a student doctor that came in with my cardiologist. He looked at my entire file, and told me that the entire left side of my heart would have died had one of the two 90%ers had a piece of floating plaque hit one of them. I probably would have been gone before i hit the floor. Thats some heavy stuff to hear. And it's not that i'm afraid to die, i have a deep faith in Heaven. Bit when i thought about the loved ones i have that would be left behind, it really hit home. I remember how my Dad's sudden death at 44 messed up my entire family.

Hedder........i'm HOPING that i can get off the insulin and back on the pills. That would make me SO happy. I have changed my diet alot, and portion size alot. I just took my blood sugar and it was 101, which is perfect. The reason i'm on here now is i slept 2 hours, and woke up in alot of pain. So i figured I'd visit my "home" before trying to get some more sleep.

Porky......thank you for the well wishes! Every comment i get from my Packer "family" (even those that arn't Packer fans but come here regularly) gives me an uplift that you can't believe. I have never been in this kind of situation before. As most regulars here know, I have many physical problems. Many "life altering", but up to now, none of them have ever been life threatening. To know that there are people that care enough to let me know they wish me well is a blessing to me i do NOT take for granted!
Thank you all!!!!

Glad to hear you are recovering well. April 10th is my day too! I am going to a St. Louis Cardinals game that day. Work has really sucked lately, so I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm a tough cookie.........alot tougher then i ever thought.
If you would have asked me 2 months ago if i could make it through something like this, i would have said "HELL NO!!!"
I guess you find out alot about yourself when you are put to the test.
My doc cut back on my insulin, so i don't take as much. Thats a good thing of course.
Again, my thanks go out to those here that have given me backing. It HAS helped!!!

Don't rest too hard Cheesey! Everything in moderation now :D

Take it easy and have a good one. Reading your story has opened my eyes to how fragile we are, even those we know. That's one of the reasons I'm currently booked for a general medical check up in an hour, which I haven't taken for about 6 years! So Thank You, I should say.
