I disagree on the spot penalty, the rule book is slanted so hard in the offenses favor, that awarding them a spot penalty for interference is too much. 10 or 15 yards and a First down is plenty.

Or.. if it is offensive pass interference, the ball is spotted the same distance from the line of scrimmage in the opposite direction. That is when it is actually called.

Yes... because if that same ball is underthrown and the defender has a bead on it.. the WR can just arm bar the defender and it is nothing more than a 10 penalty and loss of down.

I don't want to see receivers mugged, but at the moment, a simple tug of a jersey can be a 50 yard penalty. And many times it isn't more than a tug or a slight contact here or there.

The game has become a track meet with not much to lose of chucking it deep on a 50/50 ball... 50 percent of the time the reciever gets it.. 25 percent it is a penalty on the defender or that other 25 it may be intercepted.
