Man....my poor wife.
We found out 2 days ago (by my doing a search on the computer) that my wife's sister died.
NO ONE bothered to call us to tell us.
And she died TWO MONTHS AGO, ON MY WIFE'S BIRTHDAY!
They couldn't even pick up the phone and tell us. My wife is devastated by this.
Her brother and sister had the same father as my wife, but different mothers. (Their mom died in a freak accident when they were children, by being electrocuted in the bathtub.)
LJ (my wife) always tried to have a relationship with them, going WAY out of the way to treat them well and show them love. Yet this is the kind of way they treat her. Nothing new really, they have been like this as long as I remember.
Sorry for venting here, but this is more like home to me.
I just can't understand it. How cold hearted can some people be?
We would go up to the U.P. of Michigan where they lived, to try to visit. Always a cold reception.
Just not right.

Many years ago, my closest friend from childhood died. He was never one that any in my family approved of. He dropped out of High School, drank, did drugs, and lived in a trailer with his wife and daughter. When he died of a heroin overdose, he was all alone. His wife had left him, his daughter was grown and was own her own. I was working across the State some 200 miles away.

Even though my family in Norfolk had knowledge of his death, I was not told until 6 months after the fact. My "religious" relatives looked down on him even in death. I did not live as he did, but a friendship that began in the Boy Scouts still endured. I could always look past his bad behavior and see my old friend. So naturally I was upset that I was deliberately not informed of his passing.

Cheesey, my condolences to your wife on her loss.

Sorry to hear LJ lost her sister. I am sure she is devastated and that both of you are hurting.

I am glad you saw fit to vent here and those who know her, know that LJ is a lovely woman.

Thank you guys for the comments.
And LJ says thank you all.
She just came home from the church where her friend was in state (that adds to her pain, as her friend also passed away last Thursday) so it's been a couple horrible days for her.
Now she feels so alone.

Alan, that is terrible and I am very sorry you had to endure that and more importantly, sorry for your and Laurie-Jean's loss. Did you guys have a new phone number or new address or something that they couldn't reach you?

Kevin, LJs brother has her number. In fact she has called and left messages (he doesn't pick up) over the last several months.
So he knows.
Just being jerks.
