The Packers (like a number of teams) hired Korn Ferry Consulting firm (Jed Hughes seems to lead their NFL division) to help search for the new GM. Unfortunately we're not getting any rumors for them.

BUT the Texans also hired them for a GM search and rumors seem like they could be coming from that direction.

So these names also might be on the Packers search; Nick Caserio & Monti Ossenfort (#Patriots), Brian Gaine (#Bills), and Brian Gutekunst (#Packers).

Packers hired the firm to consultant, but Murphy was the one searching. Therefore Korn Ferry was only searching for one (but consulting for another).

As the places I saw, Albert Breer said it best.

So if they providing consultancy services, as opposed to engaging in direct recruitment, it's possible they were charging by the hour or by the day, as opposed to commanding a flat percentage of the hired candidate's yearly salary (30 percent is standard). Even so, it's not at all uncommon for consultants to charge upwards of fifty grand a day, so as short as this search turned out to be, it still could have netted a tidy sum for the consultant.

Granted! But it would have been a flagrant breach of their fiduciary obligations for them to have spent that kind of money (or any money) on concocting a list of candidates who would not want to interview . . . for the sole purpose of throwing up a smokescreen! πŸ˜‚
