The Packers fired defensive coordinator Dom Capers, sources told ESPN, after a nine-year run with the team.

Coach Mike McCarthy fired Dom Capers, who has run his defense since the 2009 season. A source said Capers was let go Sunday night after the Packers' season-ending 35-11 loss at Detroit.

Several other members of the Packers' defensive coaching staff also will be let go, a source said.

Sounds like it's official now!

Now is the question of, who's the replacement.

Pagano is out there, after being fired by the Colts. I doubt he's shown enough the last couple of years to get another head coaching gig right away.

He got that Ravens defense from being atrocious against the pass, but solid against the run to a great all-around defense. He's also a secondary specialist. Something we could use with all these young guys in the secondary who are underperforming.

It sounds too good to be true, really.

Best of luck to you Dom and sorry that it did not work out. I would much rather be singing the praises of how lucky the pack have been to have such a solid defense for the past 9 years than the other way around.

Would have preferred this 4 or 5 years ago. As who to replace him with, anyone (from outside the organization) who can cover the middle of the field, teach these guys how to tackle and can get the defense lined up pre-snap without players confused about their assignments.

I just have to ask, why is Winston Moss not being let go? Who is he? Why is he so valuable to the organization that he carries the Assistant Head Coach title?

beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
