Again, nothing to see here. The D is just fine. Nothing wrong. Doesn't matter how many 1st rounders have been dumped into it. Your uneducated eyes have been lying since the SB! You ain't watching tape like me so you don't know that the D is just fine like I do. The fact the org keeps dumping resources to fix it is not an indicator it's broken.

If 6.3 yards per game is all that separates 2 Defenses, no one can say one is better than the other. If in this case both teams played Detroit, but when NE played them Stafford and the back-up were out, that easily accounts for 99 yards that separates the 2 D's.

Our team is built differently than NEs. the goal is to max the offense and since the rules favor the offense, it's a good idea. Saying Mel Bount and D. Randall in the same sentence is football blasphemy. But, the rules today take the vast gap in talent between them and reduce the gap in performance that otherwise would've existed between them if it was 1980.

This is why, when the O is performing up to the level it should, we win, because it overcomes any deficiency that may exist in the defense. When the O sucks, or sucks at crunch time we lose. If Hundley was the QB, the formula would be different; but we'd have 22M or 2.5 more real good or 5 more decent defensive players.

If you want to find out why why haven't been to 2-3 more SB since 2010, ya gotta look at #12. Its never one thing; but each time we lost if Rodgers played his average game, at the right time, we would have won.

This is the only hope, because the defense will certainly never carry the load when it matters most. It's always all on Aaron Rodgers shoulders.

With the way the Packers defense has played in some big-time playoff games, I'm not sure why the Packers pay any defensive players big money. Might as well roll with UDFAs and cheap rookies and put 99% of the resources into the offense, since it's all up to Aaron Rodgers, anyway. Just like in the Packers NFC Championship game last season against the Falcons, and the 49'ers games against Kap, the defense was useless. The only hope is Rodgers.

I agree, B. It is on Aaron to play better in big games. I truly wonder if it's in the back of his head that his D is horrible and he better be amazing or they're losing doesn't affect him? Perhaps, he's trying too hard to make up for something he's not responsible for?

One of his worst games was the game at Chicago that got us to the show. However, we had a defense then and were playing freaking Collins and Haney the 2nd and 3rd stringer for half the game, but the D did their job.

Still don't understand why you seemingly continue being high on this defense? Can you explain that to me without a Trump reference? Ha ha.

It is just wrong it's been bad this long. If we didn't have Aaron, this entire staff would've been sent packing a long time ago. 8-8 with a new regime and a D that is actually building toward greatness is more appealing to me than a team that you know will wilt when it matters.

I mostly agree, 12 has played pretty meh at critical moments. I'd absolutely argue that the defense suffered the same fate in all of our losses, a couple that we dare not speak of in particular.

But, because Rodgers is getting paid a bunch of money he gets all the ire. What about the combined salaries of all the players suddenly unable to generate pass rush, unable to tackle, unable to be in the same ZIP code of a receiver? Were they earning their collectively large salaries?

QB gets too much credit and too much blame.

I have to say, this is an area where Ted and the front office are to blame. They are not getting the performance for the money spent mainly on defense. for 2016, GB spent 48.91% of our salary on Defense, NE 34.43%. GB spent 44.87% of our cap on Offense, NE 48.53%. So NE spent much less on defense and got better production. The biggest issue was that we spent almost 23% of our cap on the LB position and it did not perform at that level, that was approaching 50% of the defense salary.

LB production is indeed a huge concern and has been for a while. Clay Matthews in particular is killing us with his contract and lack of production. He's just not been a difference maker for a couple years now.
