Even after spending three of their draft picks on running backs — something that they hadn’t done in more than 40 years — the Green Bay Packers still view converted wide receiver Ty Montgomery as their starter.
But by adding fourth-round pick Jamaal Williams from BYU, fifth-round pick Aaron Jones from Texas-El Paso and seventh-round pick Devante Mays of Utah State on Saturday, the Packers doubled their running back depth chart from three players (Montgomery, Christine Michael, Don Jackson) to six.
“Absolutely, (Montgomery) is our starting running back,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said.
