This has been a rough week for the Atlanta Falcons. On Sunday, they blew a 25-point lead in Super Bowl LI on against the New England Patriots. And …

I hated giving up a first round pick for a second round pick. He wasn't even the 2nd string QB for Atlanta. It was the 19th over all pick at that.

Nevertheless, Glanville is full of crap if he says he was doing Brett a favor by sending him to little ol GB instead of a larger city like NYC. He would have sold him to whom ever gave him the most in return. He didn't care one iota for Favre.

Where have the bold moves gone? The only bold move in the last 12 seasons under Ted was trading Brett Favre. Not a single bold player acquisition. Zero. You can add Keith Jackson to the list of bold moves under Ron and Ahman Green. Heck, even Sherman went out and got Al Harris.

Give me the current list. Woodson? Nobody wanted him so he reluctantly came here. Peppers? Many said he was done when we got him. Who are the big bold moves? A late round pick for Ryan Grant? Not even comparable.

Apples and Eggplant.

Ron did an excellent job. He made the moves at the exact right time, as FA and the Salary cap were new. I think he had a good idea of what things would be like in a couple years down the road and wisely made these moves and got ahead. Once the league figured out FA, even Ron didn't make anymore moves like these.

Doesn't matter if he stopped. At least he started.

Where have ANY big moves been in the last 12 seasons? Nowhere to be found. Not one.

That's due to mindset. One guy aggressive...One guy passive. Not defensible being as passive as we've been. Wasting years of opportunities for what? The bottom line?

Aaron has our management in cruise control. Brett made Ron try harder. Ron even lamented not doing enough. What's Ted gonna think when he's done? He'll be thinking thank God we faced Caleb Hanie, or I'd have been Oh for.

What big blockbuster moves do you see in the NFL today? You see bad teams give away their future draft picks if they can get the #1 QB. And teams over spend on Big name FA's and those very seldom end up producing equal to the price of admission.

Probably the biggest move Ted has made was moving back into the 1st for Matthews. I could see him making something similar again if he thinks he right player is there. But can't dismiss that Ron also didn't make those types of moves once FA/Salary Cap got figured out around the league.

I look at Minnesota. Jared Allen was very bold for them. Mike Wallace, Greg Jennings, Sam Bradford.

Bears went and got Peppers when he could actually play. Brandon Marshall, Jay Cutler. I know Cutler has been disappointing but they went for it.

We have ZERO signature moves in 12 years outside of trading Brett. Best move in Ted's dozen years by far. You say trading up for Clay is the big move in 12 years. That is just plain sad. Not that you said it but the fact that a trade up in the draft into the 26th spot in Round 1. Not Top 5...Not Top 10... 26th. That's our big signature move? Yikes.

Will never understand how this passive approach gets so enabled on this forum and elsewhere. It's criminal.

Hell, between the two examples you provided - they've hardly even made the playoffs period. The Vikings got better last year, and it wasn't because of FA moves. It's their drafting that's starting to get in order.

Spending big in FA is often the quickest road to sustained mediocrity. You must be VERY careful, to the point of; as you say - being passive. Maybe nobody wanted Woodson, sure, but he balled out for us and was very instrumental in our winning of the superbowl. Maybe everyone thought Peppers was done, but we got a couple pretty damn good years out of him. I'll take that over Jay Cutler, Sam Bradford, Brandon Marshall, Greg Jennings, yadda yadda.

How many of you would have wanted Nnandi Asmomugah or Albert Haynesworth? How many of you would have wanted them after their FA signings? Look how much money have gone through Philly and Washington's teams in the past decade. How many trophies do they have in that same span of time?

For all we grumble about Ted, his action in FA isn't a problem. I wish he'd have gone after some depth during the season after the injuries, but that's another thing entirely.

Now, despite everything I said - if he can bring home Calais Campbell and/or Melvin Ingram, I'll be ecstatic 😛

Ha ha. You defend while knowing being passive like he is is wrong.

BTW... The Bears went to the SB vs.Indy. They also narrowly lost the NFC Championship to us because they had to play their 3rd string QB.

Jared Allen was a huge difference maker for Minnesota who had Favre blow the NFC Championship for them. Favre and Allen were outside acquisitions and they wouldn't have been in the Chip without them.

Yeah, you like the conservative approach and that's fine but even you don't like the depths of it.

When you have the QB you go for it. New England does because it has Brady so it makes sense to go all out while you enjoy that special advantage. 7 Super Bowl appearances to 1. We act like we're in year 2 of a 5 year rebuild project that never reaches the 5th year.

Even cheerleader Vic from Packers.com sees it's time to go all in. Yet, we still have Ted Thompson shills defending our lack of aggression like it's actually made us better.
