It's not truly the offseason in the NFL until unwarranted drama backpedals its way across the surface of social media and nose-dives into the news feeds and comments sections of Twitter and Instagram users alike.
Following the release of former Packers cornerback Sam Shields on Wednesday, the team's Pro Bowl safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix offered what was seen as a personal shout-out on Instagram to his former defensive colleague of three seasons. A personal shout-out is all Clinton-Dix's post should've been recognized as, however, there was a brief passage that alerted many conspiracy theorists.
In the lengthy caption, Clinton-Dix wrote, "Thank you for having my back. Thank you for lining up and playing whatever Dom Capers called rather WE liked it or not you was all in." Clinton-Dix was referencing the Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers, who is on the hot seat in many a fans' minds after a lackluster 2016 season in which the Packers pass defense finished the regular season ranked 31st of 32 teams.
Many decoded Clinton-Dix's caption for themselves and drew their own conclusions. Clinton-Dix, however, was quick to set the record straight on Twitter.

What Clinton-Dix seemed to be referring to were his own unnamed teammates, who can fairly share just as much of the blame for 2016's defensive woes as their defensive coordinator can. All the more reason why the Second-team All-Pro seemed to have to clarify on what he truly meant.
Despite this fact, it would be virtually impossible to cycle through any club in the National Football League whose defensive coordinator has the complete and unbridled support of each and every player in his unit. Many players have their own thought processes and their own concepts of what may or may not work best en route to a team's success. Even with that fact, players like Clinton-Dix would be the last of the bunch to take a "shot" at one of his bosses on social media. Fake news; it's that time of the year.
With the dismal performance put on by the Packers defense in 2016, Clinton-Dix was one of the spots that illuminated the entire group. He finished second on the team in tackles, 61, sitting behind only fellow safety Morgan Burnett who led with 68 despite missing one game. Clinton-Dix astoundingly played all 1,236 defensive snaps for the Packers this season and led the team in interceptions with five, recording two multi-interception games.

Well if this is the worse controversy / conspiracy that happens over this off season, it will be a nice quiet time.

I'm no expert on Twitter "speak", but having a limited amount of characters , seems to make tweeters create a language of their own.

Probably not a good sign that he's admitting publicly that multiple players are often unhappy with playcalls. It's probably all those 3rd and long 2-3 man rushes or the soft coverages on 2nd and long to let them have a reasonable 3rd down attempt.

GM's.....GM
Coaches.....Coach
Players.......Play

Unless you are Aaron Rodgers(who can check out of a play), you run the play called to the best of your abilities.

I think this is much to do about nothing!

5 months from now this is a non-story.

Conspiracy theory lovers and Dom Caper detractors are going to read into it what they want.

NOBODY WILL CARE WHEN NEXT YEAR BEGINS!!!!!!

Almost prefer Ha Ha dissing the coach then teammates. Can't help but think the defense is in complete disarray, too many years of being irrelevant and continually getting worse seems like its paying its toll on the players now. Change seems to be a necessity now.

Yeah some idiots with an agendas clearly misread Haha comments to fit their own agenda.

Players prefer to play a certain way, but the coaches have look at everything for a complete game and attempt to put the team in the best position. I think Capers biggest problem has been the lack of tools all being there at the same time, he hasn't had much time with a good front and back end at the same time...it's been one of the other.

I've previously been on the train of thought that maybe the players he's been getting aren't that good but I'm beginning to come around to the thought that maybe it's their ability to develop or use the talents of the players they have effectively.

Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : With LVN that is; need to see what happens in the next practice
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : beast, reading about what happened, it sounded like one of those "two guys collide and are moving slow afterwards" type of deals
beast (12-Aug) : I believe Musgrave has been injured every single season since at least a Sophomore in highschool

dfosterf (12-Aug) : Doubs, Savion Williams, LVN, Musgrave all banged up to one degree or another, missing one here I forget

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
