Total: 16

Assuming he's looking to be in good shape, Eddie Lacy. I don't want Monty back there as a full time back, that takes a way a lot of his utility. I also like the idea of two back sets and either motioning out of them or bringing him in from a 4 man set forcing the defense to have an extra corner on the field/start playing a safety on him regularly. And obviously running the ball sometimes.

Lacy #1, with Montgomery #2.
Michael showed some bursts, but wasn't consistant. Maybe an off season to get into the playbook will make him a better prospect for us.

Who cares, we don't really incorporate running into our offense. It's not actually part of the game plan. We just run here and there for a change of pace if the passing game stalls or if we have good success with a few runs early. Any significant investment in a RB would probably be a waste

I'm not saying we need to become a run first team but we need to have a running game that the opponents respect at least a little bit. I mean what is there to worry about as an opposing defensive coordinator even if we have a guy who is popping of 5 yards a carry if he only gets the ball 6 times a game.

This team will live by the pass but it will continue to come back an bit them in the ass if they can't run the ball effectively when they need to. Some fans say "we have Rodgers why do we need to run the ball?" Well, Rodgers is only 1 half of the passing game and even if he is on all it takes is a timely drop top stop the clock and give the other team a chance.

The thing is, when you have a great QB and you are a pass first team you really need a RB who can be effective in the passing game as well otherwise the position is wasted like you said.

I really want Montgomery to be a part of our backfield next season. I don't know if he could be the #1 guy but he needs to be a big part of it whether its running or catching passes out of the backfield. I like Lacy but I think he is too much of a 1 yard, 2 yard, 3 yard type of guy who will occasionally break a long one to make his average look better. I just don't think Michael will ever get it but I wouldn't mind a cheap deal with no guarantees to let him compete and then draft someone in the 3rd round.

(on serious note, we could have Barry Sanders and I bet he'd only get 12-15 carries a damn game)

I'd start Lacy...until further notice.

With all the typical caveats- players must be healthy, not over weight and not cost a fortune to re-sign, I would like to see Lacy and Michael as a 1, 2 combination in the backfield. Signing Michael first would help keep Lacy from asking for the moon.

Ty could be the 3rd down/ change of pace back. He will be more effective against some teams.

Picking up another RB in the draft would be nice. With all the injuries I wouldn't mind having 4 solid options.

It's a pretty small sample size but I find it rather interesting that Ty is not getting more love. I guess fans realize that he really was a WR trying to help out by lining up in the backfield.

Letting Lacy get 18-20 carries, Michael around 8 and Montgomery 5 with 3-5 receptions would help keep the pass rush honest and give Rodgers more time. It would keep GB from looking too one dimensional and the defensive from looking pass first. It will help the WRs get open more often too since the safeties would have to cheat toward the line looking for the running play.

If the RB gets 5 yards a carry, doesn't fumble and doesn't get our QB killed, I couldn't care less about his hairstyle, weight, conditioning or anything else. I'm not someone who worries about that trivial stuff. I'm about production.

Monty showed he can get it done, but there's only one thing Mike hates more than a sub 4.8 RB, and that's Roger Craig type screens and traps that complement a traditional WCO offense.

The real question is, will they get rid of Ripkowski? He's got a little bit of a burst.

packerfanoutwest (4m) : If packers lose out, no matter what, they are in
packerfanoutwest (5m) : both teams can not male the playoffs....falcon hold the tie breaker

packerfanoutwest (22m) : falcons are already ahead of us
beast (25m) : Packers will get in
beast (26m) : If Packers lose the rest of their games and Falcons win the rest of theirs, they could pass us... but not gonna happen
packerfanoutwest (31m) : they still are in the playoffs
packerfanoutwest (32m) : If Packers lose the remaining games,,,,at 10-7
Zero2Cool (2h) : We can say it. We don't play.
Mucky Tundra (3h) : But to say they are in is looking past the Saints
Mucky Tundra (3h) : That said, their odds are very favorable with a >99% chance of making the playoffs entering this week's games
Mucky Tundra (3h) : Packers are not in and have not clinched a playoff spot.
buckeyepackfan (4h) : Packers are in, they need to keep winning to improve their seed#.
Mucky Tundra (13h) : Getting help would have been nice, but helping ourselves should always be the plan
beast (13h) : Too bad Seahawks couldn't beat Vikings
bboystyle (13h) : We just need to win Monday night and were in
Mucky Tundra (16h) : Or ties, but let's be real here
Mucky Tundra (16h) : Other scenario was Falcons+Rams losses
Mucky Tundra (16h) : Needed a Falcons loss for a Seahawk loss to clinch
buckeyepackfan (17h) : Am I wring in saying if Tge Vikings beat The Seahawks, The Packers clinch?
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : Agreed; you stinks
Zero2Cool (21-Dec) : I'm not beating anyone. I stinks.
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : rough injury for tank dell. guy can't catch abreak
beast (21-Dec) : So far the college playoffs have sucked... One team absolutely dominates the other
beast (21-Dec) : Well even if you weren't positive towards a guy, you wouldn't nessarily want to tell the media that (if they don't know about it)
Martha Careful (21-Dec) : I think MLF want Love to look past the end half issues, and feel good about his play. Our coaches generally keep a very positive tone.
beast (21-Dec) : I think a great running game will do that for most QBs
packerfanoutwest (21-Dec) : Coach Matt LaFleur has said quarterback Jordan Love is playing the best football of his career.
beast (21-Dec) : Oh, that's how you keep beating buckeye, with cheating
Zero2Cool (20-Dec) : There is a rule that if your name starts with 'b' you lose 15 points. Hey, I don't make the rules, I just enforce them!
wpr (20-Dec) : and then there is Beast. Running away with it all.
beast (20-Dec) : As of tonight, 3 way tie for 2nd in Pick'em, that battle is interesting!
beast (20-Dec) : Lions vs Vikings could be the main last game as it could determine division winners or #1 vs #2 seed
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : Or if KC needs to win for the #1 seed
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : Right now it looks like the only prime worthy games are Det-Minny and KC-Denver (if Denver can clinch a wild card spot)
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : The entirety of week 18 being listed as flex is weird
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Matt LaFleur today says unequivocally "Ted Thompson had nothing to do with the drafting of Jordan Love."
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Apparently, the editing is what pieces comments together. That Ted thing ... fake news.
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : LaFleur "opportunity that Ted Thompson thought was too good to pass up"
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Jordan Love pick was Ted Thompson's idea.
Mucky Tundra (19-Dec) : Kyle Shanahan on signing De'Vondre Campbell as a FA last offseason: “We obviously made a mistake.”
packerfanoutwest (19-Dec) : Alexander’s last season with GB
Martha Careful (18-Dec) : if I were a professional athlete, I would probably look to see who the agent is for Kirk Cousins and then use him
beast (18-Dec) : $100 million fully guaranteed Kirk Cousins gets benched for rookie
Mucky Tundra (18-Dec) : a lower case b
Mucky Tundra (18-Dec) : The real lie is how beast capitalized his name in his message while it's normally spelled with
packerfanoutwest (18-Dec) : haha that's a lie
beast (17-Dec) : Despite what lies other might tell, Beast didn't hate the Winter Warnings, it felt refreshing to Beast for some reason.
