There has to be something to this guy. The Packers desperately want to keep him. They have barred him from interviews in the past and seem to give him promotions every year. He generates interest from other teams, as well. He must have something going for him. Not being the top pick for the 49'ers position means nothing for the Packers. Different situations, different organizations, and a different fit. Or, maybe they just suck at evaluating prospects. That organization has been a mess for a few years now.
I actually like Ted Thompson, but right or wrong, I think I'm ready for a change. I think it would be awesome to keep Ted Thompson as a boots on the ground scout and adviser. The guy has got to be one of the best at uncovering undrafted free agents and lesser-known prospects. Perhaps that ability paired with someone that was a little better at identifying top-end talent could be a great recipe for success?
