Nice "run" post Beast and I agree we can run on them; but there is simply no time for this nonsense. Mike has droned on about "balance" and running more over the past few years more than Lombardi talked about his sweep, and he’s run enough to establish it as a tendency. Today, we surprise Atl by breaking that tendency. Oh and I got ya beat by 3 exclamation points 😂.

If we punt or get FGs too many times-WE LOSE! We will only punt or kick FGs if runs fail or Rodgers refuses to execute the offense. We need to get 10 yards in 3 plays. If we run for 4, run for 5 [If we can] and face three to six 3rd and 1s on a drive we are going to punt more and kick more FGs than if we pass like Martz and the greatest show on turf. And if we run for 1 and 0 and face 3rd and 9s, we’re punting a lot.

Atlanta lost their #2 [I say he’s number #1] pass rusher [Clayborn], Beasley gets his sacks while unblocked or on lesser players. Beasley will be a factor if Barclay or maybe Spriggs is playing Tackle, against the Bulagas and Bahktieris he’s a schmutz. Atl has played one good OL this year, GB, and the DL/pass rush sucked. The DL/pass rush guy who played best that game, Clayborn, is out. In passing our OL will dominate the Atl DL, not so much when running. The Atl DL rush looked good against Seattle, but they’d also look decent against a bunch of 5th graders.

We want to get their worst personnel on the field. Jarrett, Babineaux will get most snaps inside and they are very good tackles if we run; they become very mediocre if we pass. Their top 5 DBs [Alford, Collins, Poole, Neal, Alford] are not good; but their dime [Olatoye] is really bad. When Olatoya replaces a DL guy or LB, it degrades their D. Jones and Campbell are Rookies and are much better against the run; they’ve never had to cover a Monty out of backfield. In nickel Atl has 4 rookies in back 7 and hardest part for defensive rookies is defending the pass, especially unscouted looks in passing game.

As satted above, it’s time to break the tendency to the surprise of Atl. Play action will be more and more effective as we continue to pass more and more. A short pass is more effective at getting 4-5 yards as a run and it could get more. We need to install Rodgers scramble plays on first or 2nd and 3. 1 to 3 of these 6-7-8-9 second scrambles every drive will absolutely gas the DL and they like to substitute. Then comes the quick snaps. Even if we don’t get a 12-man penalty or free play; the DL subs run onto the field then run around for 6-7-8-9 seconds on a scramble; they’re toast for the rest of the drive.

Late in 3rd Q, early 4th, maybe we can run a bit when they’ve worn down. And just when they think we're running to milk the clock Rodgers flips into Martz passing mode and puts the game away.

I'd like to agree with you , but I don't. Just running the ball would see Atlanta stack the box. Just passing the ball would see Atlanta rushing with every blitz package that they run.

BALANCE IS THE KEY, and Coach McCarthy knows it. He will run plays that take advantage of weak or suspect Atlanta personal. With the WR's dinged up, look for more 2 TE sets with Cook / Rodger's . Yes , they will run the ball with Montgomery / Ripkowski . The GB Offense will score points, but I'm more concerned with the Defense.

IMO, it will be a close game that will be determined by the turnovers.

Green Bay --- 38
Atlanta --- 34

Cheers!

I'm assuming the WRs are all 99-100% and Jordy serviceable and a threat when taken for granted. With those unscouted big plays to Davis and Janis locked and loaded.

If we see 2 TEs alot, it might mean the WRs are not 100% and Davis and Janis cant be trusted. Or an unscouted look: If we play 2 TEs; Atl will stack the box and we wont be able to run! With 2 WR, Cook, Rodgers and Monty, if Atl gets caught in their base; we could up tempo pass then into oblivion and they'd need to call a time out to get their nickel [Poole] back on the field.

The play action or OL run sets will freeze Atl's LBs and safeties and slow the pass rush; even if we don't run. After several passes on first, they'll rely on the analytics to show that for sure GB will run this time and the play action/OL run sets will continue to work. At some point Atl will realize the game plan is 90% pass and when they adjust and stop reacting to play action/OL run sets, then we run/play with balance!

My motto: Establish the run...establish the loss!

Both of you guys did a great job on breaking things down, so I'll go straight to my prediction.

I'd agree if we had a healthy WR group but I don't think any of these guys will be operating near 100%. I think Montgomery is our biggest mismatch today vs their D so I say we try and get him going early. Atlanta's offense has been way more efficient than ours this year so slowing the game down and keeping them from having a chance to run their score up may be more to our advantage than simply trying to keep up offensively with our beat up crew. If they get sick of Montgomery beating them up and load up to stop him well that evens things out more for our limited WRs to open it up some.

beast (13h) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (13h) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (18h) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (18h) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (19h) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (19h) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (19h) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.

Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder

Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
