Former 49ers general manager Trent Baalke could land with the Packers in a front office role, according to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, who adds that "speculation' has tied Baalke to Green Bay given his friendship with Packers GM Ted Thompson.

My question is why? Packers have lost how many scouting people and continued to develop young guys as they never signed another teams' former guy.... why start now? And why with him?

Bob McGinn says friendship... so this guy is Thompson only scouting friend? Or his only scouting friend who was fired? And now he's special, after his ego got in the way of the best thing he had going, and kinda sucked at drafting...

If true, I dislike it. But I don't have any reason yet to believe it's true...

McGinn also used Wolf "friends" line in the wolf is upset at Thompson story. .. I don't have any reason to believe that story either. ..

Baalke is like Schneider, both have strong resumes and respect as talent evaluators and love to have both guys on the staff; but neither has the "inner Ted" to lead. Also, he will never GM again, so he wont leave.

Baalke started w/ Jets and got a job W/ Washington as College scouting coordinator. Then to SF as Western reg scout and then director of player personnel then GM. So he has direct experience in 3 different organizations; and he undoubtedly picked up a bunch of other tips from guys he worked with that came from other organizations other than NYJ, Wash and SF.

An array of experience is a good thing to be able to tap into.

And it means Uffda will quit talking about Harbaugh coming here😂.

If this guy is anything like Thompson he needs to go. Putting together a roster that gets his team to the conference championship 3 times in the last 7 years is unacceptable.

There must be accountability! If we aren't in the Super Bowl- do we even keep McCarthy around? I mean c'mon I know a guy who has lead his team to the super bowl the last 5 years straight in Madden. This job is not the hard!

McCarthy must go! Thompson must go!

Perhaps, this is being done to help young Eliot with the transition into Ted's job? However, I would think having Baalke here would be detrimental to Eliot being his own man and feeling like he has someone looking over his shoulder. A matter of perspective, I guess. Maybe, they trust Eliot but wanna hedge?

I like the idea... I will NEVER give up on my JIM Harbaugh to Green Bay dream.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Not a good idea. The 49ers that made the big run was built by Scot McCloughan and Trent Baalke blew it up. We don't need that.

McCloughan is the best evaluator alive, but he has battled alcoholism [maybe battling is more appropriate because its a life long fight]. I'd be afraid for him to be top guy; but would love him on the staff.
