Yes, the immediate reaction will all be negative. Shortly, thereafter, it will be like the 7 stages of grief have been zipped through at light speed with the commentary similar to: At least we're not Cleveland. We have it so good here. Man, 8 straight years in the playoffs. It's GREAT being a Packers fan! That stuff is here and a lot of other places. Of course, then you have the mentality that comes across as philosophical and scholarly which acknowledges winning it all as if it was some so far out there ideal that it's really crazy to expect it.
This forum and places everywhere should be livid if we lose. I understand no team 4-6 or worse has ever made it to the show but everyone should be pissed this team was ever 4-6. That's unacceptable. The excuses and the enabling and justifications for it are mind boggling. I think that goes to what someone feels is being a "good fan". A good fan, to me, is one with eyes wide open who realizes that winning divisions is a birthright with Aaron Rodgers. When he's gone my expectation will be on finding the next one while realizing the odds of us actually winning will have taken a major hit. It's all perspective.
Rodgers is a guarantee you're going to the playoffs. The rest of this pitiful team is why we don't go further. I've been called a troll time and time again for questioning this teams leadership. I've asked over and over how many years does our management get to field even an acceptable defense much less a championship one? Fans SHOULD be screaming about the pathetic defense this team has year after year. Instead it's we have a lot of talent. Gee, thank God we've got the guy we've got running this thing because he can find a JAG to throw onto the field from Nowhere State to keep our cap down so we can overpay Starks, Clay, Peppers, etc. It's just maddening. Our management lacks the aggression needed to win. The one time we did it it worked out quite well. Gimme Woodson in the offseason. Where's the difference makers on D that are being added? Oh, we have high picks who are going to develop ONE DAY? LOL. Randall and Rollins look like wasted picks right now. Sick of hearing the company line regurgitated about drafting and developing. Where are all the developed studs on D?
Really, I couldn't care less how anyone processes a playoff loss. The point is to EXPECT more of this team. The expectations are ridiculously low IMO. I'm accused of wanting 16-0 and a SB shutout every year. It's these kinds of responses that are such a deflection from the truth that it's grating. Aaron Rodgers is practically a ticket to the show all by himself. Give him a roster for crying out loud before we're back to Randy Wright and considering an 8-8 season a major success. Rodgers leaving with 1 ring would be disgusting and a monumental failing of our management. Marino! Marino! Marino! That's what you'll see written. Then, when I type New England, I'm told that that's not fair to bring them up. Why is it fair to always bring up failures as examples but when I bring up the one example that is our peer it's rejected? Nobody wants to admit that this team has failed and failed miserably with the gift it's been given. It's all good in Packerland because we get a playoff game, or two every year. Hooray. We're not Cleveland. Marino! Just sick of the losing failing justifications over and over.
Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."
