Bwahhaha.

Don't be shy Stephen A Smith. Tells us what you really think.

Personally the regular season was not a failure. Perhaps you can say their playoff season was. The combined would be considered a disappointment but I am not sure it is a failure.

I always think any team that gets out first round is a failure. Everyone knows no matter how great you are as a team you got 1 chance to win that SB & there's not guarantee that next year you'll be back!

Even for us if we were to lose id consider it a failure but not as bad as the Cowboys because they surpassed my expectations. This is why it's AR's chance to get his second ring and I hope he won't let this one slip by like we did back against the Seahawks couple of years back!

Ha ha ha... ALWAYS a matter of perspective. Of course, if I was a Cowboys fan that's a colossal failure. The 1 seed at home and you lose?

The other perspective is... they weren't thought to go 13-3 and be a 1 seed so they exceeded expectations and have two young stars on rookie contracts to go forward with.

Jerry's son didn't sound like he didn't think it was failure. He said he can't watch the game back on video and won't for a long long time.

Us, on the other hand, we were favored to roll through the regular season (which was dismal) and win the SB. Had we lost it would've been a total failure of a season to me.

Reaching the NFC Chip and losing is the point at which I consider the accomplishment which is good, but like was said by Jason Garrett...EVERY TEAMS GOAL IS TO WIN THE SB. Falling short of your goal is...FAILURE. There is no other definition if that's your goal. Now, a fan's goal might be completely different than the teams so your perspective plays a role. However, for the TEAMS, not winning it all is a failure of a season as it is a failure to achieve your goal.

EDIT: Just watched a clip that followed the SAS clip linked above that featured Merrill Hoge he said:
http://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/18483749

"Very few players get to win a Super Bowl that's the only reason that you play."
---So, again, YES...Failure and a HUGE one.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Cowboys have 3 playoffs wins since 1996... they have beaten the Vikings, Eagles and Lions. Since 1996, the Packers, Vikings and Panthers have each beat the Cowboys twice in the playoffs as well.

Overall I have to say the Cowboys seasons was a big success FOR THE FUTURE... not for the now. I mean they know who their future QB is... and they know who they're going to build their complete future offense around.

Their playoffs this season was a fail, but I wouldn't say complete failure as you saw their rookies response well. They just need more/better pass rush and didn't have it (in part because one of their best pass rushers gets getting suspended and they keep trying to count on him... compared to the Packers getting rid of Pennel after two suspensions).

I guess they could see it as a failure. Really who thought they'd end up with the #1 seed after Romo went down?

They have a lot of good guys on cap friendly contracts. Unfortunately their window may be small when a bunch of these guys want to get paid.

As long as they've got Dak and Zeke, they'll have a chance, but that was a major missed opportunity right there. That team just put every defense in the NFC on notice though. Dak is the new age in QB and he's damn good.

But I think he's a bit overrated at this point. He'll need a good bit of help. Once some of that talent on offense starts leaving via free agency, if not replenished, they will regress because Dak is not Aaron Rodgers. I thought the same thing about Kaepernick. There was a time when he looked great, too. But yes, the Cowboys will have a nice window over the next 2-3 years.

I thought this was silly. Cowboys have two outstanding rookies at OB and RB.

Less of a failure than it would have been for the Packers. Dallas has a beat of an offensive line, a good veteran QB with a good rookie QB, and a frickin' beast of an RB. They're on the ascent, disappointing for Cowboys fans for sure but they've got a bright future.

Packers have a solid core as well, but with Rodgers getting older, there's more of a "we need to start doing more than winning a game or two then losing in the postseason" urgency going on.
