How about the other Choke Meister, Capers? Playing zone, a soft one at that too.

The big catch by Jordy, did he save the fat assed HC's job?

Yeah, I know we won, and I'll take it. But THIS is exactly what I'm talking about when I bitch about Mike getting emotionally tight when it matters. Then his team tightens up and people start dropping the ball, etc.

Mike is a very good coach, but this is his biggest weakness. He has no concept of sports psychology.

Imagine that, the defense started actually slowing down Chicago once they started running within 5 yards of the receivers again come the latter part of the 4th quarter. Run that shit once you're up 3 TDs and it's the 4th quarter. This defense isn't good enough to fall back to zone and maintain a 2 score lead consistently.

If I see a soft zone scheme when winning by 10 or more again I'm going to die.

You are winning so you just let your opponent score a TD on a very quick drive, I'm speechless by this strategy.
Capers has a big problem with the defensive calls when we are winning the soft zone and absurd blitzes need to stop, just play standard defense, the clock is on our side, make them work hard for any points they can get.

I think Mike and Capers were closer to lose this one than what we think. We were saved by Fox, Fox is a horrible coach, Chicago only won 3 games this year, he is inside the 10 yard line of GB and he kicks a FG to tie the game and give Rodgers 1:27 to win? Fox played to either lose or go to OT and that doesn't make any sense. Had Fox gone for it playing to Win or Lose then we might be writing a very different thread this week, that's something to think about.

They could score a TD on every drive offensively and you would bitch about them under performing. Your analysis of the team is just noise and I just can't take it as anything more. Sorry, but you just spew the same thing, over and over and over again. It's more predictable than a clock. * yawn *

I feel fortunate that the Bears kicked the 3 rather than going for the 4th down conversion - they probably would have gotten it. Had Jordy dropped that huge pass - we probably would have lost, the defense was giving away yards and points like Halloween candy. Hard to ignore the pair of TDs that Adams dropped, hopefully it was just a fluke and he gets his hands back. Defense played soft in the 4th and nearly cost us the game - step it up Dom!

I am not saying this game was a complete train wreck, but there were enough costly mistakes that could send you home in the playoffs - where the margin for error is very narrow.

Time to prepare for the Queens - clean up the mistakes and run the table!

This isn't excusing the defense here because they still need to stop the drive even if they don't get a turnover.

As Nonstopdrivel says, turnovers are great, but you can't rely on a turnover to end a drive. You have to be able to force a punt.

I also didn't like taking the points when we were up 7-0 in the first half and decided to go for it on 4th and 2 instead of taking the FG. It's a Bears-Packers game, it's going to be a wild one, and I don't like us in 3rd/4th and short situations. It's the 2nd quarter, take the points and build the lead and keep the momentum.

Not excusing Mike McCarthy going for it earlier, just tossing that out there. Also, I was good with going for it, I just very much didn't like the play call, or at least what looked like what was called. I think on 4th and 3 you run quick slants and lead the WR to the ball and zingalingding 1st down!!

Amazing that basically every DC in the league that actually gets paid goes into a soft defense, when all the experts watching from home know better.

So what do you want Mike to do? If he just runs the ball to eat clock and burn timeouts, you complain that he is choking, when he is running pretty much normal plays and the clock doesn't get chewed up, you complain that he is choking. It couldn't possibly be that for two series in the 4th, the offense didn't execute enough, not could it.

The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!
