Jason Taylor RELEASED by Redskins

The Washington Redskins, despite previously stating that defensive end Jason Taylor will return for another season, will be releasing him, a league source tells us.

The team was willing to keep Taylor at his $8 million salary, but asked for a workout clause to be added to his contract.

The workout clause would have required Taylor to attend 25 of 39 days of the offseason program, and he refused.

And so the move was made. Taylor will soon be on the market.

JT seems like such a dick. Wow, not showing up to workouts is worth losing $8 million???

He thinks he gonna be the next "The Rock". Problem is he not charismatic.

But...

He can play. Or he could play. We almost got him once. He knows the 3-4 and would be a good 1-2 year stop gap while we develop some talent behind him.

Should we go after him again???

yeah nah hes noth worth it. he will be one maybe two years and the money will be nuts. there is no way that Ted Thompson will ever buy into it

Despite the fact the guy likes Dom Capers, Mr. Hollywood basically already balked at playing for us last year. The guy wants to show up to as few OTAs as possible and just doesn't seem like he'd be worth the head ache of trying to bring him in even if he some how did have a change of heart.

I wanted him, but he seems like he is just playing for himself. He cant pull that BS of wanting to win a ring, because it requires that you do things like these workouts, I changed my mind. I don't want him.

Right now, I'd take him, if not for his play, he has great locker room presence. So I've heard. With our young team, we can use more veteran leaders.

I just get the feeling this is the kind of situation and player that would be right up New England and Belichick's alley.

yeah especially after they dealt away vrabel they can move their linebackers around and he can play the 3-4 outside

I hope we don't get him, i doubt he can play well enough and i doubt he will be that great of a leader anyways...
