Again, told you guys, but some just no wanna listen. 😝 😝 😝

“I used to joke in college and when I got here a little bit that I’m a running back who learned how to play receiver,” Ty Montgomery said. “Who would have thought I ended up in the running back room?”

Running back wasn’t foreign to Montgomery. He played there throughout most of his childhood before getting to high school.

He only made the switch to receiver because of the pass-heavy system his high school ran at the time.

“My ball coach in high school asked me if I would play receiver to help,” Montgomery said. “I was like, ‘Yeah, I’ll do anything to play varsity.’ He was like, ‘To be honest, we’re not going to run the ball so we’re just going to have you play receiver.’ I was like ‘OK.’”

He carried the ball 34 times for 334 yards and four touchdowns at Stanford

“I do recall a young man being excited to have the opportunity to play more, excited to have more of a role,” Bennett said. “He’s certainly one of the guys who have made the most of his opportunities. You look at what we were able to accomplish this past game, broke a lot of tackles, played with very good balance and accelerated his feet on contact.”

“It felt really natural, personally,” Montgomery said. “Nothing too difficult. Just learning all the language. It is a different language, for sure. I don’t worry about coverage anymore. I worry about fronts. Coverages are still coverages. Now I’m learning about fronts and different blitzes.”

But truthfully, this information was out long time ago. I kept telling folks he'd been working as RB for over a month before he took a RB snap, but all I got was "it takes more than looking like a RB to play RB" jargon lol

I think when Montgomery was drafted, nerdmann (maybe someone else?) kept saying Montgomery fits the mold of RB more than WR, so credit to him, or whomever that was.

Not sure whose "jargon" you're speaking of; only guy "critical" of Monty at RB in any way that I recall was wpr. But, he expressly stated he liked Monty lining up there and even running some from there; but was suspect of Monty holding up to the punishment a RB takes.

Wpr's point was realized in 2Q at 2:27 when Monty ran right for 6 and hurt his right [ball carrying arm] bicep. There was minimal contact, I have no idea how he got hurt there and he was writhing on SL.

Monty came back in 3Q 9:51 and was TFL'd when Taylor blew a seal block on McDaniel. On next play Monty in slot chipped on Avril and caught pass in flat and he didn't look injured. At 3Q 5:45 he ran off tackle for 6 [looking like a real RB] but when he got up his right arm was hurting; but the tough SOB tried to hide it for fear they'd yank him.

I still think he is kind of a little too tall for a running back. But hopefully the ninja can keep defenses off guard.

6.5 per, is that on the season or just today? Pretty sure he was over 5.0 coming in.

Any word on his ankle?

Zero2Cool (4h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (4h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (6h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (7h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (8h) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (8h) : Thank you
wpr (8h) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (8h) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (8h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (8h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (8h) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (9h) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (9h) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (9h) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (9h) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (10h) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Bears are finalizing a deal to hire Ben Johnson as their head coach. (via @tompelissero )
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : Looks like Lions OC Ben Johnson is going to be the Bears coach
