As we near the December Holiday's , some of us still need to buy presents for family and friends. I will share some of my ideas and hope that you will post some of yours as well .

Everyone loves getting pajamas (especially the bottoms) .
Many enjoy getting a bottle of their favorite Liquor . Jack Daniels if you please.
ROKU streaming device, get Netflix, HULU, Amazon, and many others. A monthly fee will apply for many of the services.
Hoodies are always popular gifts.
A gift card to eat at a nice restaurant like Red Lobster, Outback, Olive Garden, etc.
Wool Socks never go out of style.
A new Bed Pillow is a great gift .
New Kitchen Towels and Oven Mittens .
A new Belt is a fantastic gift idea.

MERRY CHRISTMAS [cheers]

everyone gets cash.It ain't sexy but they can buy what they want. The kids who are starting out in life usually use the money to help pay for the expenses that month. That makes them less stressed out for a little while.

My grandparents and parents gave presents when we were young. They switched to cash. Not one single person bitched about it. No one has to exchange a gift that they don't like or it doesn't fit. They can pool their cash from various givers and get something a little bigger than they wold have gotten otherwise. Now that my kids are setting up their own households they enjoy the fact that the money has helped pay their part of their expenses.

We all understand the gift be it cash or something wrapped in a box is not the be all in all it is the love we share for one another. I never ever ever want "The Christmas Spirit" that forces people to buy crap that no one needs or wants. To have to have the hassle of standing in line with 100 other people trying to get the last popular gift of the year.

BTW- I did get my wife something online yesterday if that helps you get through the day. It doesn't matter to me that I don't fit into your definition of a prepackaged commercialized Christmas.

WPR , you do what makes you happy and Merry Christmas to you. Sorry that I misread your post .

As for buying crap that no one needs or wants, I always carefully select gifts that fill a need or desire. My brother wears nice dress shirts for his business. He likes it when I select and give him a fine new dress shirt. I do the same with all my family and friends. I used to get cash from some of my older relatives, but I would still have liked a coffee mug or pocket knife to remember them by as they have now passed on some years ago. It is for much the same reason that I give gifts from my heart and not just my wallet.

Someday my niece will look at a silver picture frame or Christmas Nutcracker and remember that I gave it to her for a present. My nephews will be able to open up their Bibles and read my inscription upon the inside of the quality editions I'm giving them both this season.

We all celebrate the Season differently, and I look forward to reading more varied post in this thread.

MERRY CHRISTMAS [cheers]

Our house is filled with memories. More to come when our Mother's go. We try and pass it along to our kids along with the story behind it.
I once gave my niece an antique drawknife to give to her new born son when he was old enough to handle it responsibly. My Dad and Grandpa used it. The baby's grandpa (my brother) used it. That would take the tool down 5 generations. Maybe even 6 if my g-grandpa used it too like my brother suggested. I could have kept it and passed it on to my grandkids some day but my nephew in law works with his hands and I want hI'm and his boys to use it on a project some day.

My grandparents would give me $50 every Christmas. I never wanted money. Money is replaceable. All I wanted was a card with a comment from them. They passed away in 2013 and maybe I'm too sentimental, but, I can't look back and read those $50 bills' comments and smile.

When it comes to my girls, I always get them gifts. I believe gift cards and the like are weak and have no meaning behind them. I understand how it works best for some. My girls would like that, but they also love that I put time and effort into every gift I buy them and when they get older, they will value that more than a dollar figure.

I still have some of the cards mom gave me and I value those $3 cards immensely more than any dollar amount she'd ever given me because it came from her, it was genuine, authentic and again, from her.

I'm probably wrong in my thinking and I'm okay with that. I know I could die at any time and I don't want the last thing I gave my daughters to ever be a gift card or money. I want it to be something that came from the heart.

We each have our preferences and what works best for us and that's what makes Christmas, ... Christmas.

dfosterf (21-Apr) : Justice Musqueda over at Acme Packing put up an excellent synopsis of the Packers 1st round options this am
    wpr (19-Apr) : 5 days
    beast (18-Apr) : 6 days
    wpr (17-Apr) : 7 days
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
    Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
    Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
    Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
    Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
