Skins make Haynesworth a $100 million man

Posted: Adam Schefter, News | Adam Schefter | Tags: Albert Haynesworth, Washington Redskins

Football has its first $100 million defensive player.

Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth reached agreement Friday on a seven-year, $100 million - yes, $100 million! - record-breaking deal with the Washington Redskins.

The Redskins have scheduled a press conference Friday at 5 p.m. ET, assuming Haynesworth passes his physical.

The deal includes $41 million guaranteed in the first three years, and the maximum value of the deal could be $115 million. It is the richest contract ever given to a player and includes more guaranteed money than in any contract in NFL history.

And just like that, football has its first $100 million defensive player.

Just a small article, to thought I'd post it completely.

This might be one of the pieces that the Redskins where missing... and they seem to feel the same way about that as I do. I mean, this is a huge signing, especially if you consider that they already gave Hall a big deal.

Now lets see how long he can stay healthy.

Why didn't Ted Thompson out bid the redskins????

/sarcasm

That is ridiculous money. Why is it always the same teams that spend the ungodly amounts on FA?
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

I was reading a Redskin forum last night. Snyder's nickname has evolved from Boy-Wonder to Boy-Blunder. I like that. So it was written, so it shall be. :thumbleft:

This move will be looked back an laughed upon.. if Haynesworth can get in trouble in TN, imagine the ruckus that he can cause in DC.

Glad they over paid him... wanted nothing to do with him in GB.

Now if the Cowboys or someone desperate will pull the trigger on the Peppers trade.. me not want Peppers in GB for the money he will want and complain about.

This is bad for the league and stupid. NFL network says this deal is worth as much as 115 million. How in the hell does this even happen? Even most of their own fans are completely disgusted with the way Boy Blunder goes about trying to buy a contender. Thanks to this kind of shit, plan on paying more for that ticket, hot dog, beer, etc. I cannot stand that friggin' twerp. His stadium sucks also. Now I get to listen to the foreskin fanatics at the bar wax poetic about Mr. head-stomper and the GD skins for an entire off-season. Peachy.

All double entendre's are intentional... :thumbleft:

Here is the thing... it has 31 million dollars paid out in what 16 months.. and a guaranteed 41 million total.. Haynesworth will never see the back end of this deal..

But I agree, this is a bad contract because the guaranteed monies keep going up, and pretty soon it will be like Basketball or Baseball where franchises will have to eat all this dead guaranteed money.. that will be the curse of the small market teams.

Players are going to push the guaranteed front on contract in the next CBA, the franchises are going to resist them, and I think that will be one of the major holdups in the CBA, maybe even a lynch pin for a strike / lock out..

The owners are painting themselves into a corner on this issue, and we the fans are going to pay the price in the end. Again.

...And the friggin' NFLPA uses OUR numbers in their negotiations, no doubt citing us as a "small-market" team, and further extrapolating/manipulating the numbers to the "big" franchises.

We are being penalized for being A: a public entity, and B: Well-run. Here is my one consolation:

My buddy parks his rear in his nose-bleed seats in Landover, having paid a hundred dollars to park his car. The beer man comes by and he orders one, forking over another hundred dollars. The hot dog man comes by, nicking him for another fifty.

Hail to the Redskins, Motherf...

I would also like to point out that the Redskins have laid off at least 33 employees since the beginning of the year, including John Jefferson, PLUS their salary cap analyst--- citing the poor economy as the rationale for the layoffs.

Sure, Dan

Zero2Cool (2h) : I wanna kill new QB's ... blitz the crap out of them.
beast (2h) : Barry seemed to get too conservative against new QBs, Hafley doesn't have that issue
Zero2Cool (3h) : However, we seem to struggle vs new QB's
Zero2Cool (3h) : Should be moot point, cuz Packers should win tonight.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : ok I stand corrected
Zero2Cool (3h) : Ok, yes, you are right. I see that now how they get 7th
Zero2Cool (3h) : 5th - Packers win out, Vikings lose out. Maybe?
beast (3h) : Saying no to the 6th lock.
beast (3h) : No, with the Commanders beating the Eagles, Packers could have a good chance of 6th or 7th unless the win out
Zero2Cool (3h) : I think if Packers win, they are locked 6th with chance for 5th.
beast (3h) : But it doesn't matter, as the Packers win surely win one of their remaining games
beast (3h) : This is not complex, just someone doesn't want to believe reality
beast (3h) : We already have told you... if Packers lose all their games (they won't, but if they did), and Buccaneers and Falcons win all theirs
Zero2Cool (3h) : I posted it in that Packers and 1 seed thread
Zero2Cool (3h) : I literally just said it.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : show us a scenario where Pack don't get in? bet you can't
Zero2Cool (4h) : Falcons, Buccaneers would need to win final two games.
Zero2Cool (4h) : Yes, if they win one of three, they are lock. If they lose out, they can be eliminated.
packerfanoutwest (4h) : as I just said,,gtheyh are in no matter what
Zero2Cool (4h) : Packers should get in. I just hope it's not 7th seed. Feels dirty.
packerfanoutwest (4h) : If packers lose out, no matter what, they are in
packerfanoutwest (4h) : both teams can not male the playoffs....falcon hold the tie breaker
packerfanoutwest (4h) : if bucs win out they win their division
beast (4h) : Fine, Buccaneers and Falcons can get ahead of us
packerfanoutwest (4h) : falcons are already ahead of us
beast (4h) : Packers will get in
beast (4h) : If Packers lose the rest of their games and Falcons win the rest of theirs, they could pass us... but not gonna happen
packerfanoutwest (4h) : they still are in the playoffs
packerfanoutwest (4h) : If Packers lose the remaining games,,,,at 10-7
Zero2Cool (6h) : We can say it. We don't play.
Mucky Tundra (7h) : But to say they are in is looking past the Saints
Mucky Tundra (7h) : That said, their odds are very favorable with a >99% chance of making the playoffs entering this week's games
Mucky Tundra (7h) : Packers are not in and have not clinched a playoff spot.
buckeyepackfan (8h) : Packers are in, they need to keep winning to improve their seed#.
Mucky Tundra (17h) : Getting help would have been nice, but helping ourselves should always be the plan
beast (17h) : Too bad Seahawks couldn't beat Vikings
bboystyle (17h) : We just need to win Monday night and were in
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Or ties, but let's be real here
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Other scenario was Falcons+Rams losses
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Needed a Falcons loss for a Seahawk loss to clinch
buckeyepackfan (21h) : Am I wring in saying if Tge Vikings beat The Seahawks, The Packers clinch?
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : Agreed; you stinks
Zero2Cool (21-Dec) : I'm not beating anyone. I stinks.
