I read that the Lions are leaning towards Matt Stafford with the #1 pick in the Detroit News. I'm not so sure though, I think they might be hyping him up to increase the interest so they can trade the pick. I think if they were smart they'd pick an OL and see if Stafford, Sanchez or Freeman slip to their second pick in the 1st round, like Rodgers fell when the Pack got him.

It's nearly impossible for Stafford to fall that far, Sanchez I wouldn't want to trust my franchise that went 0-16 to and Freeman will have a big chance of even being there at Round 2 Pick 1, so that would be an option.

I bet they want a franchise QB and I really hope they get somewhat competitive. I'll go with the popular picks and say they go for Stafford at 1 and an O-lineman at 20.

If they do see something in Orlovsky, they might aswell go LB or so with their first pick and O-line with the 20th. Everyone's stressing their offense, but if they get a decend O-line, they're an ok team on the offensive side of the ball. A good RB, a mediocre QB at best, an amazing WR and a good O-line would get them to at least .500 if the defense can do their thing.

I really hope they do take QB #1 overall. Just one less Olineman taken before the Pack picks

Let the players we have no interest in, get taken, leaving us the tough decision of the players we want.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Multiple sources have cited the pick to be a selection between offensive tackle Jason Smith (god I hope not), quarterback Matthew Stafford, and linebacker Aaron Curry.
This is a placeholder

I really don't think the Lions can go wrong with any of those picks. This is one of those times where drafting a QB with the number 1 pick makes sense, no matter what they'll have to pay. Anything they get in the draft will be an upgrade from what they currently have.

I just question why you wouldn't wait until next year and draft your franchise QB then. The talent available next year seems so much better than this draft.

Go Lions, I hope they do well next season and help make our division competitive/feared again.

I heard this rumor of them taking Jason Smith #1 and trading there second pick in the 1st round to the Pats for Matt Cassell . I sure hope that isn't true because then all of a sudden they have an offense to fear for a long time to come.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I don't like Cassel that much and I think he will be an 'ok' QB at best.

That said, if they get a good running game around him and they already have a good receiver, they might get someone who makes few mistakes and that might be excactly what they want/need.

Rock how can you say Cassell will be an OK qb at best?
He threw for 3693 yards 21 tds and 11 ints and thats with them not letting him pass alot in the first few games. His 1st 2 games they only let him throw the ball 18 and 23 times and also the last game he threw it 8 times in the 60 mph wind. But the big thing is he was 11-5 this year as a qb. He is as good as Rodgers i believe.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

beast (16h) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (16h) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (21h) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (21h) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (22h) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (22h) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (22h) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (22h) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔

Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : found bad sql in database, maybe site faster now?
dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round

beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
