I just like the 'hawk needs to get pissed off' piece. I think that applies to a lot of our defense. I want a mean punch you in the mouth an spit down your throat nasty defense.

That is my biggest hope as far as the linebackers go, that some of the intensity that seems to come natural from Greene rubs off on this group..

I would love to see Hawk or any of the backers come out hitting like some crazy dog with that fiery red piercing from their eyeballs.. one big ball of pissedoffness and anger.. laying the freaking wood to anyone that comes within the chain length of their domain..

I am going to camp just to see that backers practice and Greene barking..

If someone were to ask me who my favorite LB of all time was ... I'd probably say Jack Lambert. He was a little before my time to see him play game in game out, but I've seen a lot and read a lot about him. Dracula in cleats would whoop anyone's ass... or at least he'd try.


I remember my dad (huge Steeler fan, grew up there) telling me about a time against the Cowboys the Steeler kicker missed a FG and a Cowboy came up to him an tapped him on the head as if to say 'hey thanks for missing that' ... then Lambert came in and threw the guy down and start pointing his finger in his face yelling something at him.

THAT's the stuff I am TALKING about that we need to see. That Moss thing back a few years ago, Lambert would have threw his scrawny ass to the turf for it and wouldn't have thought twice about it. That's the nasty i want to see in our defense.

Dom Capers - that's going to be the difference in my opinion. He doesn't give lip service to being aggressive, he is aggressive. I believe he'll coach that way as long as McCarthy leaves him alone. Sure we might give up some big plays, we did anyhow, but hopefully big defensive plays more than make up for it.

I was very unimpressed with the old defensive coaching staff from the beginning.

My favorite linebacker was Ray Nitschke and the only one better, IMO, and I hate to say it, was Butkus. To me Lambert was in that class but third.
