If anything the move would be down and pick up a Maybin, Cushing, or Jerry, in the 17 or 18 range and get another second round pick. I would have NO problem with working the draft for five or six picks in the first three rounds.
As always there is some great talent in the first several slots but from what I see after about pick #25 to around #45 there is little difference in ability and potential and it's a good list.
If Ted Thompson is not convinced there is anyone there worthy of the #9 don't be surprised to see him move back if he can nail down a fairly early second round pick in the process (along with probably a third or fourth).
