Congratulations David Bahktiari, JC Tretter, and Corey Lindsley - you are the future core of the Packers' offensive line. TJ Lang, take note, better not ask for the moon next year. You're dealing with a guy who let Mike Wahle and Marco Rivera walk in the same offseason.

They must also think a lot of Jason Sriggs.

Why was he released? Everyone give their opinion on that? Why?

It was NOT because Sitton wasn't good enough to make this miserable OL.

EDIT: This was from Silverstein 30 minutes ago:

One question that needs to be asked with Sitton, is it possible they asked him for a pay cut? That would have been a huge slap in the face. That is just pure speculation but it would explain why they decided to cut him instead of going forward. I don't think he asked for an exorbitant amount of money.

Ted not taking care of his own? What? This is a PR black eye for him and the org on this one if true. Sitton was a pro bowler...thought he was always overrated because he wasn't much of a run blocker but he was one heckvua pass blocker.

Not exactly sure why they would have to cut him now? We hold the cards with him. Ted Thompson didn't give in with the Favre situation but he's giving in to Sitton and releasing him? This had to be more than just a little disagreement. Had to be MAJOR. Has to have a ripple effect on everyone on this team. Watching one of your best players basically say I quit and am done with you and the GM just folding and letting it happen. Bad precedent. Shocked the steady stern Ted Thompson would allow this to take place.

Let's not forget that Ted was also the GM who decided to redo Donald Driver's contract towards his last couple of seasons to give him a raise on his base salary.

Oh, also, let's not ignore the countless other players that have received extensions in (Daniels, Rodgers, Mathews, among others). This is one example that shouldn't change what is generally the fact that Ted by and large prioritizes his own players over others.

That said, damn this is shocking. You have to believe this isn't a last second decision - that it was being chewed on for a while. So Ted should've had time to evaluate an O-line without Sitton. For the sake of his franchise QB, Ted better have a really good Plan-B.

So this is just a case of Tightwad Ted BEING Tightwad Ted ?

Does Teddy have bodyguards , this ranks with his worst decisions ever . He'll have to wear a disguise for the McDonalds drive through . [nohair]

This is a black eye for this org. It looks like a totally ridiculous move based on who we have on this roster to replace him. Will require a potential total OL reshuffle or putting some scrub in a pro bowler's spot. Like putting Seneca Wallace in where Aaron Rodgers once was.

I don't understand how this is good for the team or Aaron Rodgers at all. I thought Josh Sitton was one of the best players on the team period. I haven't watched preseason, is there some new young offensive lineman that is showing promise?

I shudder at the prospect of Taylor or Barclay starting in Sitton's place.

As good as Sitton is, he wasn't going to be prioritized over a very good 24 year old LT protecting Aaron's blindside.

And you are comparing apples to oranges. You almost never win without a franchise QB in this league. Many teams win without an all-pro G.
