I am stunned by this. I was not aware that the Packers offensive line was in such good shape they could drop their best and most consistent lineman.

Contract: 2016 is his final year @ $6,850,000 with $400k dead if released.

There's the bombshell no one saw coming? Can't re sign 4 of your starting 5 so just release one? His back must be shot.

I don't care what anyone says... You never want to hear a lineman say they've got back problems. I cannot think of something more stressful on your back than all the pushing that goes on, especially considering how strong football players are now.

Who is taking Sitton's job? I didn't think we had anybody capable of backing up Josh.

Lang looks to be the only sure re sign on the line right now.

It's not immediately clear how they plan to replace Sitton in the lineup, but they have several candidates -- including Lane Taylor and Don Barclay. It's also possible they could move right tackle Bryan Bulaga to guard and play rookie second-round pick Jason Spriggs at Bulaga's old spot. Or they could move Tretter to guard from center once Corey Linsley is recovered from the hamstring injury that had him on the physically unable to perform list all of training camp.

Is David B. in a contract year? If so, resign him. That dude is a warrior. No idea who replaces Sitton. I haven't been watching O-line play at all this pre-season.

It's crazy to think, but in this game we really only see a small percentage of what really goes on, especially regarding a player's health, if that indeed even was a factor here.
