The most surprising of the bunch was wide receiver Jordy Nelson, whose recovery from a torn ACL last August had yet been undeterred. The other five players who will begin their season on the sideline are linebacker Sam Barrington (foot), tight end Jared Cook (foot), guard T.J. Lang (shoulder), center Corey Linsley (undisclosed) and wide receiver Ty Montgomery (ankle).

I'm worried that they've been lying to us about the severity of Montgomery's ankle.

Also, I want Cook to show me he's ready to get out there and work hard, day after day, learn the playbook and develop chemistry with Aaron.

Agreed with Ty. We went from the guy supposedly nearly coming back last November to vague information about his return all spring and now starting on the PUP? This feels like Jonathan Franklin or JMike...Obviously a completely different part of the body that shouldn't be career threatening but this seems to be persisting WELL beyond what it should.

I'm probably least surprised about Nelson. He may need work to knock the rust off but I don't think he needs work with Rodgers so why rush him back.

I think its mostly a precaution anyway. If they weren't on the list they wouldn't be participating anyway (given the injuries) so there is absolutely no harm done in putting the guys on the list now, heck they could com off tomorrow if cleared. However, if they aren't on now and for some reason their injuries drag on into the season the only options are carrying an injured player on the active roster or the IR. Besides that I don't think PUP list guys count against the camp roster so if they aren't going to be available for a few weeks yet why not bring in someone who may surprise everyone.

I'm not surprised, nor am I concerned. I feel bad for Ty though.
