Mr. Nelson and Mr. Cobb are excited about Mr. Getsy.

The Packers didn’t have an exclusive receivers coach in 2015, as Alex Van Pelt handled both the quarterbacks and receivers, and the receivers faced a lot of criticism for their struggles against man-to-man press coverage. Now the positions have been split again, as they were in McCarthy’s first nine seasons, with Van Pelt coaching exclusively the QBs.

“We had a plan last year as far as how we delegated responsibility, and we definitely did not hit the target,” McCarthy said. “We had dropoff in offense. We’ve had time to evaluate it.

“Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, all expressed a desire for Luke to get the job.”

There should be dedicated coaches for QB, RB, interior OL, OT, TE, WR, DL, ILB, OLB, S, CB and ST. JMHO
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

Don't know whether the guy will be a good WR coach or not. But this I see this as nothing but typical PC comments. Players are going to say the right things, and coaches are going to say the right things.

Only time will tell.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

A player doesn't HAVE to say anything so assuming a positive comment is being politically correct and nothing more is pure utter garbage.

I don't get why people are so damn afraid of being hopeful and lean more towards trying to be "right".

Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb said they wanted Luke to be WR coach. This wasn't some "hey Luke is your WR coach, how you feel?". No, these two vouched for Luke. And when he got the spot, they were excited.

Okay, off soapbox rant now. 🙂 😂 😝

I'm excited that we have a QB coach coaching QB's and a WR coach coaching WR's separately. I was one of the fools who thought "Hey, having WR and QB in same room with same coach could be a good thing!!" ... I am able to freely admit, based on the production, I was not right.

Doesn't anyone think this is kind of funny that Nelson and Cobb wanted him so thats what they did, but Rodgers wanted a player and didn't get it. Not saying hes mad but watch out Mr Ego might throw another tantrum this year.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

My thoughts really are not on the WR or TE coach... but how the OC and DC, by the chart don't report to the HC. Hell... the DC is below a position coach that he oversees. lol.

In other words... what in the hell is with the associate head coaches that Mike McCarthy seemingly thinks is healthy for this team.

The associate head coaches report to their coordinators, however, they have roles designated to them by the head coach. Those roles/responsibilities they report to the head coach.

Also, the label is a bump in a pay and makes another team make them head coach to take them from the Packers. (that part I'm not 100% sure on as I'm going by memory of what I've heard/read)

Zero is right.
If a player didn't like, or care about the hire, they wouldn't say ANYTHING. The fact that they did, in my view, bodes well.
Happy players will do more to give their best.
So I see it as a positive.
