Pretty darn good numbers.
Still, it isn't the best performance by a Packer punter. IMO that still goes to Donny Anderson, who in 1967 gave up a total of 22 punt return yards on 65 punts. That's TOTAL, not per kick. 1.5 return yards per game. Frankly, I don't think anyone will ever come close to that kind of number.
His "net" punt average was 3.6 yards less than Mashtay's 40.2. But I'd rather have the certainty that that 22 total return yards represents.
Add in the left-footed spin, and hands-down Anderson would be my punter if I were putting together an all-Packer team.
Of course, he was a first round draft choice.
22 yards. It just blows me away.
22.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
