Last season a good deal of football fans, not just Packers fans, felt the Packers were going to win it all. This season nearly everyone (e.g. Peter King -"I give up. Anyone got a solution for this team? If so, you’ve got five days to forward it to Mike McCarthy") is claiming the Packers don't deserve to be one of the six seeds in the NFC, so where did it all go wrong? What happened to that prolific offense everyone has been accustomed to watching?

Regardless of the rule changes. Regardless of the size of the players. Regardless of the speed of the players. Regardless of newly implemented schemes. Football always has been and always will be won and lost in the trenches. If you control the line of scrimmage, you control the game.

In 2014 the Green Bay Packers had 1,050 offensive snaps and the offensive line was intact nearly every game from start to finish. That continuity is what made the Packers offensive line regarded as one of the best in the NFL and allowed the Packers offense to flourish with playing 4,925 snaps out of 5,250 or 93.8% of the offensive snaps. That is simply remarkable.

Here is where it gets interesting because in the 15 games of the 2015 season (997 offensive snaps) the the starting offensive line unit played 4,186 out of 4,985 or 84% of the offensive snaps together.

That's over a 10% drop off from the previous season and it's no secret what is ailing the Packers offense.

We're going to need at least one T on the active roster.

Do you have a comparison with other teams? I don't think we are any worse off than New England when it comes to Oline injuries. Difference is Hoodie and Brady seem to adjust the scheme to cover for the weaknesses. They are throwing short quick underneath routes to help the oline, and open passing holes for Gronk.

We keep running the same sideline go routes or back shoulders, along with TE releases to the sideline and 10-15 yard crosses. Oh yeah and bubble screens. It is easy to defend a WR when you never had to worry about them going inside.

If Jordy can come back healthy, ideally, I would like to see us get a good 2 good tackles and ILB. Not that our tackles are bad, they just can't stay healthy.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

The Packers offensive line looked good because of continuity, not because of the individual players. In other words, the offensive line is not as good as it played last season and I believe that is a big reason (other than the loss of Jordy, obviously) for the offensive failures this season. If the offensive line was healthy, maybe the routes wouldn't be so crud-like? Or maybe having a former quarterback teaching quarterbacks and wide receivers isn't all that great.

explanation that makes something clear; clarification.

They played together 80% of the season, and played like crap for all of it.

I don't buy it.

Sure if they were healthy and able to buy Rodgers 5 or 6 seconds a receiver could get open. But even healthy, I'm not sure we would be that much better with the play calling we have.

Defenses have figured out how to cover our offense. Even last year, the offense was showing signs of trouble. Rush 4, CB don't worry about in routes, just cover the sideline for the first 10 yards because the safeties are over the top wide because LBers can play deeper because we don't challenge the middle short.

Even with the beat up Oline, we should be better offensively than we are but play calling is preventing that.

dfosterf (27-Aug) : Clayton Tune cut by the Cards? Don't know if that's the guy, we shall see
TheKanataThrilla (27-Aug) : Per Bill Huber, the Packers will not be bringing back Taylor Elgersma or Sean Clifford on the practice squad, so a new third quarterback
Mucky Tundra (27-Aug) : Schefter must have deleted his tweet
dfosterf (27-Aug) : Hopefully Jerry reaches under the seat cushions and ashtrays of his jet and scrapes up the 45 million apr and spares us further nonsense
dfosterf (27-Aug) : Have to admit the PO'd Cowboy fan videos would be fun to watch. Problem with draft picks is half their fanbase barely knows what that is
beast (27-Aug) : I think Cowboys fans are ready to get their pitch forks and burning sticks if Jerry were to trade Micah
dfosterf (27-Aug) : If Jerry traded Micah to GB, here in northern Va. they would have to quick build yet another data center to handle the internet hate traffic
Zero2Cool (27-Aug) : its signing and trades that you don't hear about, other then announced
Zero2Cool (27-Aug) : If you hear rumors about Packers sign or trade, won't happen. Not how they work
dfosterf (27-Aug) : 19 players in a contract year. Jones called loss to us worst loss in Cowboy history. Forget Parsons trade. Not happenin' Cap'n
