Looks like the Jets aren't going to play the waiting game, which in my mind says that he could be released.
Jets | Deny Favre given months to decide future
Mon, 02 Feb 2009 06:34:53 -0800
Erik Boland, of Newsday, reports a New York Jets spokesman refuted a report by Sports Illustrated's Peter King, who said general manager Mike Tannenbaum told QB Brett Favre he needn't "rush" his decision to return and that he can take "months" if necessary. According to the spokesman, the team hopes to have an indication from Favre by the time the NFL Scouting Combine begins Feb. 18. Favre has two years left on the three-year contract the Jets inherited when they acquired him from the Green Bay Packers. Favre is due $13 million in 2009. Should he retire or be released, the Jets, who are over the salary cap, would receive cap room they desperately need.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)
