Regarding the topic, if we want to say there were only three drops, I wouldn't object a whole lot to that. But for me, if you can get both your hands on a pass, and you do not catch it, that is absolutely a drop.

Starks drops were a bit more bothersome because it's such a short pass and if he would catch THEN run, I think he'd do a bit better. That said, he has been a helluva spark on the screen play so I suppose that's being nitpicky.

Certainly, it was not a good pass by Aaron Rodgers. Equally certain, James Jones should have caught it.

It counts as an interception for Aaron Rodgers and drop for James Jones.

Rodgers put the ball in an area that Jones could catch it even if he had to jump for it.

Edit, I wanted to see if maybe Rodgers threw the ball where he did because the middle of the field was occupied. It was not. There was no one there and I was able to grab this screen shot of the ball going right through James Jones hands.

Your comment about passes like that or even worse counting against the QB as an interception is a valid one however and when one takes that into consideration I suppose its only fair to take the other into consideration as well.

Give him credit for making a difficult catch, but not give him blame for getting both hands on the ball and failing to make the catch? I could be interpreting what you're saying incorrectly, sorry if that's the case.

No doubt, if the ball would have glanced off the top of his fingertips, I would not count it as a drop, but it went right through his hands. I mean, I just don't ... I just am flabbergasted how Jones can be removed from fault here. Again, not saying he's 100% at fault because he's not. Aaron should have lead him (as I wrote about numerous times btw) instead of throwing it high.

You remember Jordy Nelson missing a catch that was intercepted? I would credit Jordy for the interception AND drop because it was a good throw and hit him in the hands. Conversely, I would credit Aaron with the interception due to it not being a good throw and Jones would get the drop because he (regardless of effort) got both hands well in position to make the catch.

BTW, it's nice to have a decent debate about the game in which the Packers WON, lol.

A drop should be a ball that is thrown where it is supposed to be that the WR misses/drops. Sometimes there are balls that the WR uses all his ability just to get hands on it, not catching those should not be negative. I also don't think all INT are the QBs fault. Rodgers has had many where the ball was on target and the WR missed and caused the INT.

In this case, the INT was more Rodgers bad throw than Jones.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Semantics here. If the receiver gets both hands on the ball, it's not a bad throw. It's just not a good throw. Headache anyone lol
