Hey guys, I just saw METALLICA at the Allstate Arena (Chicago) last night and man, I am still jacked. These guys can perform for being "old".

This was my first time seeing them despite listening to them my whole life (minus St. Anger, wtf were they thinking?). Front row, completely jacked out of my mind. Birthday gift from the fiance....I knew I made the right choice proposing :thumbleft:

Anyone else see them yet or are going to see them while they are on tour for Death Magnetic?

This is as close of a smiley I could get for headbanging... :shaking:

If you are going to see them, get ready for a great performance!

Sounds like you had a great time. I don't really like Metallica myself, but it still sounds like an awesome experience.

I have seen Metallica 7 times in concert... last being in the early 90's with GNR in the Twin Cities.. best show I seen was in tiny Brown county arena in Green Bay of all places.. same tight crowd.. but they rocked that place.

Alpine Valley... seen them there a couple of times..

Black and after they went mainstream more.. glad you got to see them.. James can't sing like he used to I hear.. that is a shame.. he could belt the lyrics out in front of that intense pounding instruments and rips..

Wish I can tell you if Hetfield still had it but since this was my first time I can't...I'll tell you though, he sounded great. He can really get a crowd into his performance.
He actually cried at the end of the performance a bit if that means anything...I am pretty sure it was a good cry.
In the middle of a concert a fan held up a sign saying "CHICAGO LOVES METALLICA" and he asked the fan in between songs if he can have the sign. The fan gave it to him and he put it up on stage. He did not want to get off the stage at the end which was funny because he is playing here again tonight.
Great performance and great band...I wish them well in the future. I for sure wouldn't mind more Metallica music.

Not a big enough fan to go to the show but I do like some of their stuff. AC/DC is about the only band to actually get me to go to the concert.
I'm just not a big concert guy even though I love music

I'm glad you had a good time. I've never seen them live, personally, but they were my favorite band for a long time.

Until they turned into money grubbing douchebags, that is...

Thanks Heather...I am aconcert junkie and I am very much into old and new metal...I just get an adrenaline rush from it. People are like why do you listen to that, all they are doing is screaming? Its a rush. As for Metallica, I understand what they are saying at least. Can't say that for most of the bands I listen to though...haha.

If they can't, tell them to shut the **** up because Metal musicians know what I'm talking about and they don't and they obviously have no basis criticizing things they're too stupid to understand.

For the record, I've said this before more than once. Makes me feel good. I hate people who blast Metal then put on something that takes NO talent like American Idol.

Metal is where it's at. Metal has the best musicians, hands down. (Well, I admit that Jazz has some sick bassists). Metal is the finest form of music since the Romantic Era of Classical (from Ludwig van Beethoven to arguably Antonin Dvorak).

Also for the record, Kirk Hammett and the late Cliff Burton know this stuff way better than I do.

Metal? How can you listen to that crap?

Nah, in all honesty, I don't really like metal. I prefer to listen to something a bit.... softer, I guess.

Although I did like one Metallica song. St. Anger if I'm correct. But that was more because the song was included on the THPS 4 soundtrack.

Still, great that you had a great time though. I haven't actually been to a concert, but I guess I should really do that someimte soon.

I go to concerts to get away from everything. It is that 4-5 hours of just listening to live music and being yourself. Nothing can compare to it and I suggest you find out when your favorite musician/band is coming near you!

edited twwice because I failed at putting the video in. Here is the LINK .

Everyone has their own dislikes and likes to what kind of music they like or dislike, it is what makes you feel good, what makes you happy. I personally listen to all kinds of music just some I prefer over others and its the kind of mood I am in also. I love the 80's bands, some country music, and yes I like some polka's to, me and my Dad used to polka all the time, what a fun dance that it.

To some people it may seem like the artist is screaming, but every genre of music is an art, a gift. So listen to what ever makes you feel good, makes you dance, makes you think. 🙂

I have probably told this story before, but the song "One" played a very large part in my recovery after my accident, I clutched a hold of that song tightly and made sure the I never became the man trapped inside himself.

I go in spurts on music, sometimes I can't get enough music, and sometimes I could go weeks or months without it. But if I ever start to get down on myself, I pop in some Justice and peg the player to "One"

Inspiration in metal, who would have thunk?

Music works in mysterious ways. James Hetfield made a comment before singing Broken, Beat and Scarred.

He said this song was made for every person in here who has came across a struggle in life and has come out the other end a better person because of that struggle. BOOM!
I was thinking he was talking about his alcoholism problem back in the day...but since this is a new song, I have no idea. But just goes to show that that ONE song can do it for someone.

Pack, I know what you mean about holding onto that one song and yeah, who would have thought metal can do that for someone.
