With a title like "Newly nasty run defense sets tone for Packers", I would of thought the article would of been about the DL, or someone new stepping up,
or you know... like someone that's currently on the roster!!!I couldn't finish that article but the first good part of it all seemed more like a Hawk hate fest than anything about "newly ... packers" only part of that article I got that was correct was the "nasty ... tone"...
And I want to point something out
"Protecting the inside linebackers was a way of life for the defensive linemen of the Green Bay Packers in their first six years under the current coaching staff."
Bob McGinn is going after the two gap system heavy in that article but he's stretching the truth some with statements like that... making it sound like the Packers used the two gap system through out Capers whole career with the Packers which that's simple not true.
From 2009 through 2011 the Packers played in an aggressive one gap scheme (other than maybe the NT) with it becoming clear in 2011 they no longer up the defensive guys up front to continue to run it and had to make a chance it went to the two gap system in 2012 and 2013.... but in 2014 back to the aggressive defense once they got some more players that could hold up in the aggressive high risk defense. So IMO it wasn't 6 years... more like 2 or 3....
