Would he have to go through waivers? He's a vested veteran.

He'd probably want some money, after having been cut by us and whatnot. Then again, it's a gig and he knows the offense and the QB. He'd be smart to come here.

I sure wouldn't mind Jones coming back here. He would be a veteran that could help the young guys.
And was said, he knows the offense. No "learning curve". He could step right in and help.

In fact, given the situation I think he may realize it is the best chance to once again show he can still play. No one is going to sign him to be a #1 or probably even a #2 but if he comes here, and Cobb misses a few games he has the chance to put up those numbers.

James Jones makes sense because he could push Ty Montgomery and Jeff Janis as the No. 3 receiver. His rapport with Aaron Rodgers was really good. I think people often overlook chemistry between WR and QB.

Speculation about Boykin and Ross suggests that Jared Abbrederis is heading for retirement or IR. It also suggests that the team doesn’t have confidence in Myles White. It’s a shame they didn’t hang onto Charles Johnson. Remember that when you’re clamoring for them to cut a young rookie so they can keep an overprice veteran.

They also might be hesitant to use Janis and Montgomery on special teams now since they’ll be a part of the offense more. Ross can fill that void on special teams, though I think Montgomery still needs to field kicks. His return skills are too good not to utilize.
