So the rosters have to be trimmed down to 75 players by Tuesday... I count 88 right now.

Is it too early to put players on IR? Can Jordy be moved to the IR and count as one of the "cuts?"

Assuming he can, that means 12 others. It can't be looking good for Javess Blue, Kyle Sebetic, or Alonzo Harris who didn't even dress for last night's game. I don't know the extent of their injuries, could they be candidates for the IR as well?

I do not think any QB will be cut before Friday because Aaron Rodgers typically does not suit for the final exhibition game and Scott Tolzien has his headache. Although he did suit up so maybe they give Tolzien first half and then Brett Hundley 3rd quarter and Matt Blanchard 4th quarter.

I'm really liking Blanchard and prefer him over Hundley.

I think you will see which guys Ted wants to get a better look at.

Those will be the ones would go on IR for the year.

I think players who are injured can't be released outright without some kind of injury settlement.

Not sure , anyone know the rule?

I like Blanchard but he has a significant injury history. Plus I'm confident they could sneak him to the Practice Squad.

I agree neither one will be cut before Tuesday.

waivers / injured reserve

3. Injured players with 4+ seasons of service time can be immediately placed on Injured Reserve (IR).

4. Up until the final cutdown date, injured players with less than four years of service cannot go onto IR until they pass through waivers. Those players are released with the “waived/injured” designation. Known as “injury waivers,” this process exposes the player to waivers, but warns other teams that the player is injured. If the player clears injury waivers, the team can then either place the player on IR or agree to an injury settlement (paying the player for the weeks that he is expected to be recovering from his injury) and then release the player.

It is important to keep in mind that injury waivers only apply during the offseason, up until the final cutdown date. So, as of the final cutdown date, a player with less than four years of service time can be placed directly on IR, although some teams will still use the “waived-injured” designation, hoping that another team will claim the player, thereby relieving them of the financial responsibility for a player on IR.

So Jordy can go on IR. If Javess Blue or Sebetic or Harris (or even Abby?) are headed for IR they need to clear waivers. Did Abby go through waivers last year?

1. put the guy through waivers or
2. Keep him on the 75 until final cut down day and then he can be placed on IR.

Note the problem w/ stashing a guy on IR with a fake or exaggerated injury is that you have to pay the full salary and it counts against the Cap once the season starts.

If Abbey dont make it to practice b4 season starts; I say we cut him and and sign to P. squad or if he's still not cleared, sign him to P. squad after his injury is healed plus, I think its 6 weeks that we have to wait. I dont think we should pay him 500K in year 2, no one is gonna touch this guy.

Any young guys they want to move to IR before Saturday have to clear waivers.
