That is very stellar Ted Thompson of you. 😁

Amari Cooper age 21 cap hit $4,120,566
Jordy Nelson age 30 cap hit $4,600,000

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

I waded through just about every word of the 4 pages of this thread.

I guess there are different degrees of ACL tears. We sort of went through this with the Bulaga injury. It's possible Jordy might be back by the end of the season, but that's a long shot, especially with today's tendency to be overly cautious about things - heaven knows, the Packers are among the worst for that. The way he walked off the field gives slim hope, but more than likely, the best case is Nelson comes back undamaged next season.

As for this season: I HOPE the Packers do NOT even remotely consider any over age waste like those mentioned. We do NOT need Jennings, Jones, Wayne, Moss, or anybody else. Of all the positions where we could lose the best player, probably WR is the one where we are hurt the least. The Packers - I absolutely believe - are LOADED at Wide Receiver. Probably the ONLY silver lining to this disgusting turn of events is that we have to cut one less quality WR.

As was said, there are very very few "true #1" receivers who make the QB great. Nelson and Cobb, however, rise to the top level when catching Aaron Rodgers passes. There's no reason not to expect Janis and Adams to do the same (yes, in that order of likelihood). I could see a great future for Pinkard too, and without this injury, we very well might have lost him. Montgomery didn't look very good today, but he should be really good. Myles White looked more decent today than I have seen him, although I doubt we keep him. And then there's the name I didn't see in 4 pages of posts: Jared Abbrederis - at this point, he's still less than 50/50 to be a contributor, but he's not out of the running yet.

Also, we absolutely do NOT need to become a more run-oriented team. That would be just plain stupid. As great as Eddie Lacy is, if he is the MVP, it means he is getting way too many carries and the Packers are hurting themselves.

I do NOT see any reason at this point why the Packers can't still be a super team - the best in the NFL. The much bigger concern than WR is the weakness of the O Line IMO.

Yup... to add to what we had. Now, we have one less similar WR. We need to replace that guy. Crabby runs faster than Davante. Right between Jordy and Davante's 40 time. Great body control and hands. Knows his craft like Jordy does. He can run a bit with it, also. I think he would be a fine replacement considering the circumstances.

I'm sorry you lost your favorite player...that does suck. Hopefully, you can find a new one in his stead. Janis is Jordy 2.0. Hopefully, you can find something you like in him.

The things that don't make all the highlight reels like reading defenses and making route adjustments, that little push off he gets away with all the time, working his way through traffic, beating jams, blocking downfield, etc... I read earlier that Jordy had more 60+ yard TDs by himself last year than 30 NFL teams. This offense is going to change that's for sure. At this point I'm not down on guys like Adams, Janis, and Montgomery being able to step up but things will probably be different this year. At least they have time to adjust.

This is a real bummer. But I would sooner have it happen now than during the season. It was a meaningless game but I think it would have been worse if it happened against the C Hawks the first series the second game.

We lost a true #1 WR:

1500 Yards,
13 TDs,
6 DPI calls for 129,
ZERO fumbles
a 2.7 drop rate only bested by a handful of WRs,
7th in YAC,
with only 2 penalties in 3 years for 10 yards,
repeat 2 penalties in 3 years,
and a blocking fool and
one who TWICE took less to stay in GB

and what Steve said [“that little push off he gets away with all the time, working his way through traffic, beating jams”]

and what Nerd said [Getting his feet down in bounds. Going up for the ball, sacrificing his body over the middle, catching with his hands. Meeting the ball at it's high point. Knowing the whole route tree. Intangible communication with Aaron”]

and what Tundra said [What about that subtle little head fake Jordy does?]

and to add to Nerd, Aaron Rodgers throws those freakin’ balls out of bounds 25-30 yards downfield on purpose and Jordy is laying out and catchin’ em. UNPRECEDENTED!!!

Did ya see him race down on Lacy’s 56 yrd screen pass TD against Bears to block?

Plus and absolute stud leader in the room and all around great guy, a man!

A #2 WR? LOL, damn, Is a #1 WR some fictional unattainable part of some wet-dreamed wayward NFL perfection fantasy fu(k. LOL Damn!

Jordy might be a #2 if his ACL is torn and Jerry Rice in his prime is on the team.

Mucky Tundra (5h) : Missed FG into a Lions TD; that'll do pig, that'll do
Mucky Tundra (6h) : That might be it for the Vikings
Mucky Tundra (6h) : Oh so the refs do know what intentional grounding is
Mucky Tundra (6h) : what the hell was that Goff?! Not much pressure and he just air mails it to Harrison
Mucky Tundra (6h) : They really need to to get rid of the auto first down for illegal contact
Martha Careful (7h) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product
Mucky Tundra (7h) : Even when GB got pressure he was throwing darts; vs no pressure on that last pass he just air mails an open guy
Zero2Cool (7h) : didn't have guys in his face ... pressure makes difference
Mucky Tundra (7h) : Where was this Darnold vs GB?
Mucky Tundra (7h) : BALL DON'T LIE
Mucky Tundra (7h) : how was that not a safety? Goff throws it at an offensive lineman
Mucky Tundra (8h) : Zero, I thought that was a given! ;)
Mucky Tundra (8h) : Zero I looked through earlier and noticed the same thing. Bonkers year. I just wonder if beast put any money on games
Zero2Cool (8h) : I'm hoping for BLOODBATH. Pummel one another.
Zero2Cool (8h) : 8 people in pick'em would have won any year with their total lol
Mucky Tundra (8h) : I'm rooting for the Lions to lose.
Mucky Tundra (8h) : God help me but I'm rooting for the Vikings to...Vikings to...Christ I can't say it
Zero2Cool (9h) : 4 td for Rodgers
Zero2Cool (9h) : Chiefs got shutout
Zero2Cool (9h) : Rodgers passes for 3rd TD. might be last game of an amazing career
Mucky Tundra (10h) : "The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry."
Zero2Cool (10h) : Owner ... love it
Zero2Cool (10h) : Mayo was the guy they groomed for HC and one of the reasons they let Bill go.
Mucky Tundra (11h) : Pats have the #4 pick, lots of cap space and Maye at QB; should fetch some attention
Mucky Tundra (11h) : Well that didn't take long; Jerod Mayo out as Patriots HC
Zero2Cool (11h) : I would expect it to be higher in favor of Eagles
Mucky Tundra (11h) : Thst line seems...generous
Zero2Cool (12h) : Eagles -3.5 over Packers in Wildcard Round
Mucky Tundra (12h) : Did it though? Pokes beat the Commanders on the road with Cooper Rush previously
Zero2Cool (19h) : That gives them their best chance
Mucky Tundra (5-Jan) : Cowboys starting Trey Lance at QB vs Commanders; GB vs Philly in the Wild Card incoming!
Mucky Tundra (4-Jan) : Stinks for Lloyd. Hoping he comes back strong for next year
Zero2Cool (3-Jan) : Packers placed Marshawn Lloyd on reserve non-football illness list
Zero2Cool (3-Jan) : Luke Getsy been helping Packers defense. He's former OC Bears/Raiders and our old QB coach
beast (2-Jan) : Thanks dfosterf, I'm still kicking myself for last week, as I forgot to change to pick Vikings and Lions... after putting in a holding spot.
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : First alternate: Elgton Jenkins Other alternates: Jordan Love, Kenny Clark, Keisean Nixon, Tucker Kraft, Josh Myers, Jaire Alexander
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : Pro Bowl still a thing? Guess Packers have three. Jacobs, Gary, McKinney.
dfosterf (2-Jan) : It's a mine field with all the players sitting, etc
dfosterf (2-Jan) : There was quite a bit of "chalk" matchups this year it seemed, but not this week coming up
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : Or we got better and by we I mean everyone except me
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : We have about six that by percent would have won nearly any season. I guess 2024 was predictable 🤷
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : You can check previous seasons. I quick did it and don't think anyone hit 70% before
dfosterf (2-Jan) : Hats off to the Beast
dfosterf (2-Jan) : I'm at 71.76% in pick 'em. 2nd place. Beast is at a flat 75% 9 games ahead. That 75% has got to be unprecedented this late in the season
beast (2-Jan) : I don't care deeply, just want some good entertaining games
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : BTW, not serious.
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : You don't care about it either!!!!
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : NIL and Portal killed college, no one cares about it.
Mucky Tundra (2-Jan) : outside of Texas-Arizona St, it's been a snoozefest
beast (2-Jan) : I expect Georgia will change that tomorrow, but we'll have to wait and see. If they do, then only Big 10 and SEC are left.
