Five days ago, former NFL receiver Randy Moss didn't completely slam the door on a potential comeback. On Sunday night, he kicked it wide open. "I actually have not lost the itch,' Moss told Curt Menefee of FOX. "I've been working out with a few guys over the offseason. I have been retired for the...

The only people I know of who are giddy are the Jeff Janis circle jerk, because they think he's gonna swoop down and save the season now.

Jeff Janis just might do that. Jordy lite is what they have been saying about him. A long way from Saginaw Valley State.

A shame we let Charles Johnson get away... this would be so much more palatable if we still had him. BTW, who did we keep in order to let this guy go?

EDIT: I looked. We kept JARRETT FREAKING BOYKIN and JEREMY FREAKING ROSS and let Charles Johnson go. Brilliant. Apparently, Ted Thompson doesn't know WR talent like we thought because Johnson is becoming a force in Minnesota and Ross and Boykin are farts in the wind.

His injuries were making it a tough call if I recall. I don't think anyone doubted he could play.

To be honest, I'm indifferent on which way the Packers go. I shamefully acknowledge a vet adds a level of comfort even though I know it's likely a placebo...it can also lead to a C.Johnson situation and we let a really nice, young piece go to another team.

Had 14 catches for 192 yards and 2 TD's on 23 targets...those are his career numbers. That ain't bad for the small sample size. Also, had 1 post season catch vs. KC...a 46 yard reception. He has the dreaded measurables of a #1 WR but more issues than Koren Robinson and Justin Blackmon.

Was a top performer in 5 of 7 combine categories:

I know this is all pointless because we like the guys we've got but it's always fun to speculate and project.

If you're looking for WR's, this is the list you need to focus on because this is the only list that matters.

Here they are in alphabetical order for your convenience.

84 Abbrederis, Jared
17 Adams, Davante
10 Blue, Javess
18 Cobb, Randall
82 Hunt, Jimmie
83 Janis, Jeff
88 Montgomery, Ty
87 Nelson, Jordy
11 Pinkard, Larry
19 White, Myles
5 Williams, Ed

All the injury to Jordy Nelson means is someone who was going to be cut, will not be cut from this group.

Although on topic, I did find this to be funny.

Ted Thompson CAN choose from any of the FA's or attempt to trade for someone. Larry Fitzgerald wanted out of Arizona. He can do ANYTHING he wishes not that another team would reciprocate. This is one of those cases where it would be fun to see how different Wolf would handle this vs. TT. We kinda know what Ted Thompson is going to do and we know what Ron would've done.

I've read people bitching about Charles Johnson who clearly have no damn clue how that all went down btw and are simply seeking change for the purpose of change itself.

All I hear is how deep we are at WR and when white lightening goes down we are gonna go pining for someone else's cast offs or worse yet, players who couldn't even land on a NINETY MAN roster for any of the 32 NFL teams?

Am I the only one not smoking the wacky tobacky? Shit, pass the damn pipe then!!!

One fact folks need to realize is this happened mid-exhibition season, not mid-regular season. There is a HUGE difference there. H.U.G.E!

Good post zero, and something else I keep coming back to as I stew this in my mind - can anyone name a WR for the Patriots last year? Wasn't Brandon Lafelle one of them? Did I even spell his name right?

Again, I probably wouldn't be leading the group with flaming pitch fork brigade to 1265 if Ted broke character and brought in some vet, but I also am cautiously optimistic that the team can function with what they have in house, even if there are some growing pains. Somehow this franchise got reasonable production out of Jarrett frickin' Boykin 2 years ago.

Not landing on a 90 man roster doesn't mean you can't play. Lyerla is on nobody's roster... he can play...he's just troubled like a Justin Blackmon. Da'Rick Rogers is a heck of a talent...just a troubled immature dude. Who is to say he couldn't find himself in Green Bay?

Yes, there is a HUGE difference...we have time to find someone NOW and incorporate them into our way of doing things. Heck, Favre as a young QB did that on the fly with Rison.

I think it would be an egregious error for Ted Thompson to sit on his hands here. We're the SB favorites not unlike back when Ron pulled the Rison move. Never will we see the difference in the two mindsets more than we do right now. Ron's knee jerk was to add Rison...heck, he added Desmond Howard earlier, also. Without those two guys Brett and the Pack end his era ringless. So, adding a couple of FA's through knee jerk actions proved to be a very fortuitous thing. Our current guy is very unlikely to do anything. Just different strokes.

Let's sign a couple aging wrong side of 30 years old players who couldn't even get a roster spot when 2,880 of them were available. Bingo! Bango! Bucko!!

Let's compare this situation to Andre Rison who started 9 games, played in 10, was 29 years old and had one of 1,590 roster positions when he was released by the Jaguars and the Packers picked him up.

Apples and DONKEYS is what we're talking about right here.
