"He has the skill set to control verticals," cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt said of Goodson. "He has very quick feet. … He has quick burst. He's shown some long speed. Those (traits) fit well for outside guys."

Tolzien, I feel pretty good about him, but I'd like to see what he can do under live fire. I expect him to step up, but I haven't personally seen it yet, as I haven't been able to get to TC.

Head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt have raved about the progress the fifth-year quarterback has made in refining throwing motion and footwork over the past year.

The Packers felt so strongly about his improvement that they let Matt Flynn walk in free agency and re-signed Tolzien to a one-year, $1.35 million contract. Judging by the first 10 practices, it's looked like the right move.

This new playcalling situation could make a huge difference in this offense (for good or bad) or it could make no difference at all. We'll probably have to wait until the season to find out, though. Preseason will help them work the logistical kinks out of the system, but they're not gonna be actually strategizing until the real games.

Play-calling isn't foreign to Clements. Before joining the Packers' staff, Clements previously called plays while serving as the Buffalo Bills' offensive coordinator in 2005. He's also been wearing a headset during practices in camp, relaying calls to the quarterback.

Looks like we'll get some film on Janis, at least on offense. I heard he lost his position on ST to Randall, although Randall does have a hammy now.

Nelson and Randall Cobb likely won't see much action against New England, so Janis should have ample opportunities to show what he can do in Thursday's opener with the Packers banged up at receiver.

Be nice to see my boy Palmer too. I'd take him one handed over Hawk.

Palmer has been practicing with a club on his left hand with no set date on when he'll be able to play without it. He injured it during the first week of camp. When Clay Matthews moves to outside linebacker, it's mostly been Palmer and rookie Jake Ryan stepping in next to Sam Barrington.

I will be flying tonight for work, but I hope to catch some of the game in the airport. I am hoping to see the hype for Monty show up in a game situation. I really want to see what we have at DL. I honestly think we need to look elsewhere at this point unless a diamond (heck I'd take a bronze bar) is somewhere in this group. Thornton especially as I honestly think he is gone no matter his draft status. New CBs I am interested in as well. This is a passing league and our Rookies better be quick studies as I think they will be pressed into action quickly.

With regional coverage, I'm stuck with either Redskins vs Browns or the Raven's vs the Saints tonight.

However a view in the "Chat" area could save the day for many of us not in the GB or NE coverage areas.

I'm usually in Smokey's position, stuck with the god awful Redskins every week. Thankfully this game is on NFL Network.

I'm probably most interested in seeing our ILB depth perform. Behind Barrington and Matthews, who is going to step up? My guess is Joe Thomas makes some plays.

Yeah Joe Thomas! Forgot all about him the past week or so. He's definitely one of the top people I am looking for.

But it was more a surprise that they had Janis working on the #1 punt unit as a gunner than a surprise that he lost it. Besides Richardson was an ace at that role last year and most likely will be taking a spot from someone as they seem to be jut rotating the young guys through seeing who might potentially be a good fit there in the preseason.

dfosterf (42m) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (43m) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (45m) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (48m) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (51m) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (51m) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (53m) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (55m) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (56m) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (1h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (1h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (1h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (1h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (3h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (3h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (3h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (19h) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : uh oh
Martha Careful (1-Apr) : Too bad camera's can't spot the ball as well.
Mucky Tundra (1-Apr) : So will the chain gang be gone completely or will they still be around as a backup or whatever?
