Packers release P Cody Mandell

Majority of the teams (someone fact check me please) use the Punter to hold for their placekickers and Cody and Mason Crosby just didn't seem to mesh well enough for the Packers to keep him around.

Punters are used as the holders because you can have the long snapper, holder and kicker practice separately in large quantities without taking reps away from say the backup QB.

The holding makes sense - I did read the other day that Crosby went 6/10ish with him holding vs. Masthay where he went closer to 100%. Still a little surprised seeing this already in camp.

I saw one of his kickoffs the other night and it was not good. Might have been a fluke. And the odds of him ever needing to kickoff aren't high. But it is another strike.

I kinda felt that holding would be his downfall.
Crosby and Masthay seem like they are on the same page.
Seems like the Pack had holding issues before masthay came along,or perhaps my memory is faulty.
