I'm mixed-raced, multi-ethnicity. When people ask what I am, I say "American." Then they say, "well, where did you come from?" I say "America." Then they press it and I tell them to stop right there. I don't ask white people what their heritage is.
I'm tired of hearing ANY hyphenated crap before American. You're either American, or from another country. This hyphenated crap is dividing this nation. If I were running this country, there would be no asking race in school placement nor job searches. You're either an American citizen, or you better have a legal right to work in America, or you can't have a job. That's it. No more quotas.
As for schools, you're either in state, or you're not. If you're in state for State Colleges, you pay in state tuition. Or you pay out of state tuition.
That whole race crap is outdated. I'd like to believe we're past that. But apparently, the media isn't. I'm tired of hearing Obama is our first African-American President. How about we just say President Obama and leave it at that? It was like how they kept saying that Hillary Clinton (and later Sarah Palin) were women. You think I couldn't figure out their gender? I actually canceled my subscription to Time magazine because of that. They devoted whole issues to race and gender. It got old fast. Very fast.
