It's early but I could care less who wins between Arizona and Pittsburg although after 80 years or whatever it would be cool for the Cardinals.

Make your first round projection BUT don't make a mistake and look at a position where we have a NEED. Ted Thompson will not go there. He's going to rate 'em and take the guy at the top no matter what position he plays.

Why does he do this? Well, just look at recent history.

A couple of years ago he selected Harrell when DL was the deepest position we had.

Last year he moved back and took Jordy Nelson. WR was about the deepest position we had last year too.

Next thing you know we NEEDED both these guys. Now with Harrell's continuing injury problems he hasn't contributed like they needed him to but Nelson filled in very well for Jones.

So with that I will make my selection:

Malcomb Jenkins, CB-THE Ohio St. University.

Big for a CB, fast, and can man up or play zone. Probably the best CB talent to come out of college in the last three drafts. I will say we are fortunate if he's still there with the #9 pick.

Back up Selection- Rey Maualuga, defenses get built around guys with this talent.

I agree with the Jenkins pick because the top talent will be all gone, But watch for Ted Thompson to trade back for maybe 2 2nd rounders and then draft some guy from central north dakota state lol. But seriously i see jenkins as the pick.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be šŸ™‚ (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Trade back a small number of picks, grab an extra 3rd, and draft Everette Brown. Then later trade up with our 2nd and two later 3rds to get back into the 1st round and draft Aaron Maybin.

Booyah. Tweeners galore. Hell, one of 'em has to be a superstar waiting to happen. Maybe both.

I don't know, but I have a feeling Aaron Curry will be there at #9. He'd be a perfect fit for OLB in our new 3-4. If he's not there, I'd definitely agree with Malcolm Jenkins.

This is what makes the topic fun. If Curry is there at #9 I would be very surprised if he wasn't selected. Regardless of the fit he would have to considered among the best available as well.

If for some reason any of the top five, and I consider Curry in that group, I look for Ted Thompson to jump on them.

Draft day always brings surprises. We have a starting QB because of how unpredictable it can be.

B.j raji if his stock lowers maybe trade back and pick him up later Or the other monster in the middle at boston Ron Brace or even both that would be sweet

The way Raji is dominating the Senior Bowl practices.. there is no way in my mind he falls outside of the top 10 unless during the combine they dig out even more character issues.

My guesses..

Rey Maualuga ... would give this team a fiery presence on the field.

One of the stud OT in the draft.. if one of the three is still on the board.

Andre Smith
Jason Smith
Micheal Oher.

The dark horse pick Peria Jerry, DT Ole Miss. 6-2 290.. would be able to step day one into one of the DE spots in the 3-4.. stout and can penetrate.. disruptive force. Fiery leader on that team.. listen to this quote..

"LISTEN TO YOUR (EXPLETIVE) COACHES!" Peria Jerry screamed at his teammates.

With all the love being handed to Boston College DT B.J. Raji here, its time we give some love to the No. 2 DT on our board, Peria Jerry. Jerry had an impressive performance during 11-on-11 drills, consistently showcasing his burst, power and technique to get off the ball and into the backfield. On one play, he did a great job firing off the snap, splitting the double team and finding the ball instantly. Another guy who is really putting on an impressive performance.

Linky

In the end.. I think Jerry might be the kid we select if he continues to shine through the pre draft work.. has that work ethic background we seem to crave.

#9 - Brian Orakpo - DE - Texas Longhorns.

Best DE in the draft. Should Be Available at Number Nine.

Great Nick Name- Brian "O-Sack-Po" (Sounds Like "Go-Pack-Go"
