When the Green Bay Packers traded up to select quarterback Brett Hundley in the fifth round of the NFL draft, their intention was not for him to be the heir to Aaron Rodgers. Hundley will start the season as a backup, but could be developed into a major trade asset for Green Bay. Hundley was

Rodgers only has so many more years left in him.

Time for Mike to prove he's still got it as a QB guru, which would make Aaron expendable in 3 years, not Hundley.

Question is if Brett Hundley excels like Aaron Rodgers did, do they ship off Aaron and run with Brett?

Aaron would be 34 (35 in dec)
Brett would be 24 (that june)

Ship off Brett to the Jets for Rodgers and now talk of shipping off Rodgers for Brett 😊
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Anyone feel like Aaron's body is beginning to break down?

Why the 3 year talk?

The Packers will have Hundley under contract for 4 years with a 5 th year option.

He could turn into trade bait in 2 to 3 years, but he also could be heir apparent in 5 years.

Aaron has said he wants to play another 10 years, his mind might change depending on what happens the next 5.

Either way if Hundley can develop , he will be an asset one way or the other.

I'm still thinking he becomes an excellent option in goal line situations or on 2 point conversions, so before we worry about what we'll get in return for him 3-5 years from now, how about finding a role for him on the current roster.

As for Hundley, the thing I like best about him is he was compared favorably to Randall Cunningham. I doubt we can keep him as a backup for 7 or 8 years; I doubt we let Rodgers go similar to Favre - I suspect he will still be closer to the top of his game than Brett was at that time. Thus, Hundley becomes a nice dilemma to have. Trades of that kind seldom yield as much as you would like to get for the guy.

Someone made a good point about the length of contract being four years so hopefully the Packers and string this along. Then again, the kid might be another Brian Brohm.
