Favre can go to hell as far as I am concerned. He is like a friend who I thought was a friend until he showed his true colors. He slept with the enemy and he loved it. He played the game his way and not the right way. Too bad he rarely threw the ball away, instead he would always try to thread the needle and most of the time it ended up as another INT. I could keep going on about the traitor,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Brett said the Packers pressured him into making a decision. Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy admitted this saying they knew he would return after having such a great 2007 season and wanted to get the confirmation. I know, I know, who wants to know the facts when the lies and ignorance is so much more sexy, right?

(Probably how Bears fans feel now when they occasionally beat the Packers.)

Those first 8 or 9 years with Favre were magic. Remember the Halloween MNF game at the Bears in '94? Even with all those heartbreaking losses at Dallas, you just knew the Packers were finally a serious contender. I cried when they won the Superbowl in '97.

The first real chink in Brett's armor (for me) came with that dive he took in front of Strahan. But then he had that incredible game against Oakland after his dad died. I know the receivers made him in that game but it made it even more special. But then the interceptions started getting really old. Still you took the good with the bad. Up and down. As long as #4 was out there we had a chance, I thought.

I was seriously pissed at him while he was "unretired." But I'm over it. I choose to remember the joy I had watching him on the Packers during the '90s and forget all the crap he pulled afterwards.

I am not angry nor have/had I an issue w/ Favre playing elsewhere. I simply would not enshrine him because of the shenanigans he pulled the last 8 or so years playing here; his continual failure to show respect to 1265; his misogynistic behavior; that is Favre simply has no class. His poor intentional play over his last 8 years in GB; disqualifies him, and I just donā€™t think a dick-pic sender should be in our HOF and # retried.

There were 2 BFs: the one that if cut would bleed G&G and do anything for a win; and the one that arrived around 2000 that was a spiteful self-entitled egocentric stat whore and headline hound.

In the mid 90ā€™s I imagined w/ glee what heā€™d be like when he matured; but it never came. I have never seen a QB outright refuse to improve like this. Instead we got Brett Fraud or BF2. He didnā€™t commit treason playing for Vikes, he committed treason while playing for the Packers! He didnā€™t like Robert Ferguson and would often skip him in the progression, sabotaging the play. He was so special heā€™d get his own lockerroom. Couldnā€™t throw more than 20 yards w/ the bad thumb, but was too selfish to sit-out and heal, personally killing a season. Felt entitled not to prepare, study film and this lack of preparation stopped him from improving. Heā€™d constantly disrupt meetings with class-clown type comments. We have reports of Randall and Rollins helping each other and Joe Thomas helping Ryan; but BF openly stated heā€™d not help Aaron Rodgers get better. Itā€™s selfish and anti-team to do that; but to openly announce such a thing shows his supercilious arrogance and sociopathic level of self-entitlement. The 1996 BF would have NEVER done that. His Iā€™m retiring/not retiring so heā€™d stay in the limelight crap was a continual distraction to the team. He called out Mike McKenzie in public regarding his contract issues and McKenzie vowed never to return to GB because of it forcing a trade and again hurting the team. And his childish antics as mentioned w/ Moss. His practical jokes, which we call hazing today, and class clown routine disenfranchised some players and interfered w/ productivity of meetings and the preparation of other players. Thereā€™s a bunch more of these stories, some not confirmed; but what we know shows Favre was not a servant of the team; he saw the team as his there to serve his oversploding ego.

Like Pavlovā€™s dogs he salivated when the press rang the gunslinger dinner bell. His single focus was a fawning public, a fawning press, he had to be the focus, the center of attention. He never got bad press for the INTs so he made no effort to tone down the gunslinger BS; of course, at the purposeful detriment to the team. Rocketing a ball into triple coverage got him adulation if completed or not. A little 5 yrd check-down offered no sugar for the Favre superego, no personal glory. He didnā€™t throw 336 INTs, he threw 1200, it is just that the other 900 were dropped by the D. No other QB in history, as a percentage, threw as many INTs in the second half of his career, it is as if he got dumber as he got older. Team objectives meant NOTHING to him, except as it related to his hero worship and needing to be the center of attention.

No improvement his last 8 years w/ Pack; same ole putz w/ Jets; but suddenly when motivated by childish vengeance, in Minny he finally becomes the mature, thinking, prepared QB, we all thought heā€™d be in the last 2/3s of his career. The mental ability and will to win and do whatā€™s best for the team was there all the time; but it took an incestuous hate for GB for him to focus in such a way.

In playoff crunch time, he knew his lack of preparation and glory seeking stupidity would expose him as the fraud he was; this is when his insecurities and fears of being rejected overwhelmed him. At crunch time he froze like a deer in the headlights, like a kid w/ stage fright, his mind would go blank and heā€™d just heave the ball not knowing where it was going.

His brother Scott was convicted of manslaughter when he stopped on a train track drunk killing the passenger. Favre said, ā€œThis was a mistake between two buddies. I mean, thereā€™s nothing good about drinking and driving, but who hasnā€™t done it?ā€ In 2012 his brother got pardoned by outgoing AG after Favre endorsed a political ally of the outgoing AG. His sister has been arrested for a drive by shooting, manufacturing meth and felony shoplifting w/ her sister-in-law married to Jeff Favre. It looks like a gene related problem to me.

Then of course his misogynistic behavior was disgusting; and ya gotta believe he did this a lot more than what became public. The way he made that stupid bald coach from Minnesota fly down, be his butler and mow his grass and jump through other hoops was some crazy stuff; his tossing Jets under the bus about reporting injuries; and so on. Then his lies about how the circumstances on how he left GB on Greta van Sestrund; lies about not being afraid heā€™d be booed; his hissy of a petulant child over the last 5-6 years; and his on again/off again crap last year; as well as his other countless comments that show that he still has absolutely no respect for the Packer organization.

If we look at his body of work as a player; offset it by his PURPOSEFUL on-field antics that undermined winning; plus the anti-team behavior he committed; juxtaposed against his personal conduct like sending dick-pics, harassing women and painting 1265 in the worst light; his enshrinement will devalue the Packer HOF. And of course, one must consider whether heā€™s done something really really bad that one day might become public. When his brother was in prison he said, ā€œHere I am in my fairy-tale world playing football while Scott sits in prison, and I have done more bad things than heā€™s ever dreamed of.ā€ Favre is saying this of a person in prison for MANSLAUGHTER!!!

End the drama; cancel the ceremony and assign #4 to Blanchard tomorrow.

Still a lot of hate and negativity about Favre in here - mostly irrational to my way of thinking.

I choose not to believe the silly conspiratorial on-field stuff - intentional interceptions, etc.

I choose not to give a damn about the post-Packer career off-field stuff.

What counts IMO is that We Packer Fans had the player with arguably the BEST career in NFL history - a fact that will remain true until our current star player supersedes even Favre's accomplishments. We Packer Fans also had over a decade and a half of Winning football that Favre was primarily responsible for - that after a decade and a half or so of generally mediocre teams.

Favre deserves the honors.

Good post barfarn. I knew people that used to work at St. Norberts during t.c. in the 90s when his wife was going through cancer and let's just say the dick pic reports didn't surprise me. You already went into detail about the narcissism and other examples of his questionable background.

He was an exciting football player on the field who was arguably the biggest reason for the Packers' resurgence and for that alone I respect and credit him. However, Im not going to allow someone's success dictate how I define morals, nor will I apologize for letting that shape my opinion of someone.
