While round one gets most of the attention, round two has been where general manager Ted Thompson has done some of his best work. In fact, you could make a compelling argument that 3 of last season’s 5 best players (wide receivers Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson and running back Eddie Lacy) were originally selected in that particular part of the draft. And so were Pro Bowl wide receiver Greg Jennings and All-Pro safety Nick Collins, who might still be the third-best player ever drafted by Thompson.
Other solid players picked in round two include guard Daryn Colledge, defensive end turned outside linebacker Mike Neal, cornerback Casey Hayward and emerging wide receiver Davante Adams. Another wide receiver, Terrence Murphy, looked like the real deal before suffering a career-ending neck injury in his rookie season.
