So, I think he was the big name Free Agent linked with Dom Capers. Didn't Jason play for Capers in Miami?

Is Jason available?

If so, I'd grab him up now. He's gonna be cheap as crap now lol. I hear he didn't get along with Washington too well. Not sure if it was the city or players or scheme, just that he's not happy being a Redskin.

Taylor is still under contract with the Skins, but there was a lot of talk that he'd be cut in the off-season.

In fact, Taylor himself said that he had underachieved based on his contract, and I believe he also said he was aware that there was a real possibility that the Skins would cut him.

Taylor's had good things to say about Capers, so I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to play for Dom one more time. He may be willing to take a 4-5 million/yr contract to serve as a DE (4-3) / LB (3-4) hybrid. When we do run the 4-3 packages on passing down, Taylor could try to fit the role that KGB played, while Kamp would be opposite of Taylor.

The biggest positive about Taylor would be that he's got experience in the 3-4, and it was with Capers to boot. It's of the utmost importance that there are FAs familiar with the 3-4 brought in this off-season, because it'd serve as an invaluable tool to help the transition of a 4-3 team to the 3-4.

Does anyone know if DT Keith Traylor is a FA?

I think Taylor signed a two-year deal with the skins last year, so he's not a free agent... yet. there is much talk about him getting cut. and, as i understand it, it was under Capers coaching that Taylor won defensive player of the year in, i believe, 2006.

Jason did win defensive player of the year while Dom was in Miami in 2006..

Although I do not think he was the DC at that time...

He was Dc in 2007

But since Jason knows him, knows what is expected, it has to be a notch for the Packers

Jason Taylor's stats from 2008:

                     Tackles Interceptions
G GS Total Solo Ast Sacks Safety PDef Int Yds Avg Lng TDs
13 8 29 21 8 3.5 -- 9 -- -- 0.0 -- --

Why should we take up a roster spot and pay the veterans minimum for 8 starts, 29 tackles, and 3.5 sacks -- numbers any one of our current third-stringers could give us for a while lot cheaper? If we're going to get a free agent, let's get someone who could give us a substantive impact.

Capers most recently completed a two-year stint during which he had defensive coordinator responsibilities with the Miami Dolphins, holding the titles of special assistant to the head coach (2006) and defensive coordinator (2007
