4. Green Bay Packers

DL: NT Letroy Guion's contract is up. As is B.J. Raji's, who likely would have been Green Bay's starting nose tackle if he hadn't torn his right biceps tendon last preseason. LE Mike Daniels is an unsung star and 2013 first-round pick Datone Jones is ready for a bigger role. But the Packers must solidify nose tackle and add depth in the defensive trenches.

CB: The Packers are in danger of losing steady LCB Tramon Williams and No. 4 corner Davon House, as both are free agents. It's unclear whether Green Bay envisions dime back Casey Hayward or swiss-army-knife DB Micah Hyde as starting caliber. Williams is one of the better cornerbacks on the market and figures to seek top dollar.

OT: The Packers are in good shape at every offensive line position save right tackle, where Bryan Bulaga's contract is up. Bulaga graded out as a top-ten pass-blocking tackle at Pro Football Focus in 2014. Top reserve Don Barclay is a restricted free agent after tearing his ACL last August.

TE: Inside linebacker is a need for the Packers after another poor season from A.J. Hawk. Brad Jones, Sam Barrington, and Jamari Lattimore were given chances to nail down jobs, but all three failed. Tight end is just as pressing and possibly more so, especially if free agent Randall Cobb walks. GM Ted Thompson spent a third-round pick on Richard Rodgers last May, but he isn't a promising prospect. In-line TE Andrew Quarless is just a guy, and Brandon Bostick is an injury-prone underachiever.

Thompson is known for retaining the players he wants and needs to keep so a lot of this will get cleaned up shortly. I think it's the end for Hawk, Jones, and Quarless as these cuts would add several million to the cofer and allow Ted to resign more valuable players. I think Peppers will be asked to renegotiate his contract as well. He won't get $12 mil anywhere else and find a team with a better chance to get a ring.
I disagree with the statement that Barrington and Lattimore "failed". I expect both to have productive seasons coming up. Also,
Mathews is not done playing inside some. They are better on early downs with Clay in and Perry outside and not just because Clay is better than anybody they have inside. Perry is pretty darn good out there.
Ted will resign both Bulaga and Cobb. Won't be cheap but Ted's not letting them go.
He will also resign Guion and/or Raji.
He will not let both Williams and House walk.

I know the great FA debate will surface but I would be happy with just resigning the players we need to keep this team moving forward. We do that and Teddy has another good draft and we will be the team to beat.

It seems some of our biggest needs (according to silva) coincide with our free agents which is a good thing. As warhawk said Ted Thompson is known for finding a way to keep the players he wants to keep. Resigning Bulaga will help reduce the need on the OL and resigning either William or House (I think we will keep one of them for sure) will reduce that need as well. The same can be said for the DL. I think we keep either Guion or Raji or even both as I can't believe they will be too expensive. That leave TE and ILB IMO that are the biggest needs we can't address in house.

I'm not saying our FAs are absolutely the answer but I do think the more issues you can address in house by signing your own guys the easier it makes the rest of your off season. If we can sign at least 4 of our guys (Cobb, Bulaga, Williams or House, Raji or Guion) which I think will be more than possible I think we will be in pretty good shape.

Raji and Guion come back.

Barrington, Nate Palmer and that rookie, Bradford (I forget his name) all get a shot inside. Lattimore probably does too, although it will be his last. Ted will draft someone high to fill this position, the rest will get a shot to stick as depth.

Peppers will renegotiate and come back on a pitch count.

Tramon and House will both get offers, whoever makes the better deal will come back.

Cobb should come back to play with Aaron. He'll get a "Ted Thompson Special" contract, which will seem like a blockbuster at the time, but within 2 years as the cap increases will look like a bargain, and Cobb is only 24, so the deal could be for several years.

Bulaga will test the market and may get a deal, but Barclay and Tretter will provide potential depth there. But I do expect Bulaga to return, especially given his injury history. Another "Ted Thompson Special," but to a lesser degree.

Our biggest needs in order are ILB, and TE, but we could use some depth on the Dline. Maybe a kick returner too, although I expect Abbrederis to step up next year.

Zero2Cool (8h) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (12h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (12h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (13h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (13h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (13h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (13h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (13h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (13h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (13h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (13h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (13h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (14h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (14h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (14h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (14h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (15h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (15h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
