Is it so hard to believe he's more comfortable on a football field than in front of reporters? Environment has a lot do with people’s actions. I don't know Marshawn Lynch. I'm also not going to pretend that I know him based on his end zone antics or his lack of interview skills. None of that matters.

What matters is he’s a heck of a football player who also seems to be a good teammate. You don’t hear any Cal Bears, Buffalo Bills, or Seattle Seahawks speaking out against him. Aaron Rodgers, who was his teammate at Cal, spoke fondly of him. All things being equal, I rather watch him play for my favorite team than go against it.

I agree with you that I have not heard anything bad about him from teammates. I also don't recall hearing anything bad about Harvin prior to his departure from Seattle, though.

He's exceptionally talented, I don't dispute that. He may be more powerful than Lacy, and likely faster/shiftier too. That said, I'm not a fan of his antics and am not too disappointed he's not in green 'n gold.

Regarding Harvin, that's an apple to oranges comparison. Harvin openly clashed with his coaches (Brad Childress & Leslie Frazier) in Minnesota. There were also reports about his effort. Nobody questions Lynch's efforts. All his coaches seem to like him. The comparison doesn't work.

Eddie Lacy is fantastic. I wasn't saying I'd rather have Lynch over Lacy. I'll take the younger back nine out of 10 times. But it sure would’ve been interesting to see how Lynch would’ve done in Green Bay in 2010, 2011, and 2012. I certainly would've preferred him to Alex Green, who the Packers took with a third round pick in 2011's draft. I believe the Bills would've dealt Lynch to Green Bay in 2010 had Ted Thompson parted with a third rounder. He only offered a fourth or so the story goes. I'm glad Lacy is Green Bay's running back. I'll be equally as glad if Lynch departs Seattle this off-season.

Neither of us know for sure. I just interpret his actions differently.

As for Harvin, yes, he was clearly a problem in a lot of places. I was just saying silence from the locker room doesn't Mean he's necessarily a great teammate.

As far as Lacy, I didn't mean to imply an either/or debate. Just saying I agree that he is extremely talented. ..but still happy we didn't get him even when Bishop/rodgers wanted him.

Oh he grabbed his crotch, that means he wants the media's attention!!!

Any attempt to correlate the notion of different color shoes is asking for media attention is precisely the mental manipulation that causes players to NOT want to speak to the media. The media does not care about these athletes as men, as brothers, as uncles, as fathers, as husbands, as anything but a STORY to financially profit from.

While interacting with some in the media who have complained about Lynch not wanting to speak to them, I've been told that they have a job to do so they can support their family. Think about the depth of that statement and then ask yourself who is the real douche here. The preferred to be silent athletes or the media or us?

If you didn't read the negative articles, they wouldn't be so rampant. Every time you click a link that says an athlete committed a crime, you're confirming your douche-status.

Thats just it. By refusing to talk, he's actually making himself look like a jerk. If he actually pointed out WHY he's doing it, if there really is a valid reason, he could actually make a point instead of looking like a putz. He has the perfect situation to do so, being in the SB and having a captive audience.
If there is a real reason, use this to your advantage and make those media guys look like the "douches".

As far as the crotch grabbing, I don't care if he wants to do that, other then it makes him look like a very poor sport. Those kinds of things are outlawed by the NFL.
Barry Sanders scored touchdowns, and I don't EVER remember him doing a classless act like that.
It's disrespecrful to your opponents, and shows no class in my view.
If Jordy Nelson, Eddie Lacy or John Kuehn (SP?) did that, I'd call it classless too. It has nothing to do with his skin color, or team affiliation.
Show some class on the field.
Like it or not, little kids are watching that and want to be like their sports idols. Is THAT the message you want to give to kids?
Yeah, I know it's not his responsibility to be a role model, but he IS, like it or not.
Bart Starr was my role model when it came to football. I pretended to be him when I played football. I don't remember him grabbing his crotch.
Just show some class out there, and give a reason for people to respect you.
I hated Barry Sanders, as he was just so darn good! (I didn't really hate him!) Fact is, I respected his actions AND incredible talent. I just hated that he was so good against the Packers.
Lynch could get that respect to, if he didn't show such little class on the field, and disrespect for the rules.

I read somewhere that he said the same line 26 times or something like that. Personally, that's too much effort for me. If I'm uncomfortable talking to the media, I just give short succinct responses and hope they eventually leave me alone.

Q: How does it feel to be in the Super Bowl for second straight year?
A: Fortunate

Q: Why did you grab your crotch after the TD?
A: Mistake - caught up in the moment

I can see how some will say he's a jerk for saying the same phrase over and over again, but if you want to blame someone, blame the NFL because if he (and others) had their way, they'd let those whom want to talk, do the talking instead of mercifully being forced to do so.

BTW, that four letter word in the same breath with Barry Sanders nearly got you perma-banned!! 😛

LOL!
The problem with letting them pick and choose who they talk to is, they would prevent any writer from writing anything that might be seen as negative by the player.

Mike Royko could get the dirt on Richard Daley. You think he'd be challenged by any of today's NFL people?

Hah.

That's true, Wade.
Personally, I don't care if Lynch talks or not. I actually wish they would just walk away from him and ignore him.
But it's the NFL that makes the rules. If they change the rule and let anyone that doesn't want to talk to not talk, I'm fine with that too.
It's THEIR business to decide. I really don't care either way.
