It is wrong to attempt to define people by the amount of times they were knocked down and ignore the fact they picked themselves back up. We all know when you are in the playoffs the defenses you see are much improved than what you played against week in week out during regular season. It's one of those obvious things that a good QB can get you into the playoffs, but you need a good QB and good team to advance. John Elway is one of the few QB's who was able to carry his team to the Super Bowl a few times.

Peyton Manning's problem is not the moment being too big for him, that's absurd. The problem with Manning is he's NOT the QB he once was. He is done.

Manning is a stat whore like Favre and Marino. If that's what you want as a quarterback, fine; if you want to say he's declining, fine; but don't sit there and argue with a football fan about a choke artist when he sees one. Some guys get it done and others don't. And I'll say the same thing about Favre - a very reckless quarterback that cost the Packers many big games.

Manning like Farve never threw a "pretty" ball, neither threw a tight spiral and their balls flutter. When they were both at their prime, their arm and other factors could overcome, but both as they got to the end, that being able to overcome that flaw in their throwing was harder and harder to do.

Which is why if you look at Brady, you don't see that same problem because he never had the cannon arm, but threw a nice ball and still does which is why he is still playing and Manning isn't.

And of course when you're throwing a duck outside with wind or snow or rain it will have a dramatic effect on the precision of the pass.

I'm going to say the messed up quad from the Chargers game contributed much more to Manning's crappy play the last month of the season in addition to the playoffs over Peyton choking. And this is just my opinion here, but it's like Joe Buck and Troy Aikman in the sense people feel the need to bash someone and cowardly take the easy target.

I'm not trying to take a shot at Manning, he is one of the best QBs in recent history. But not having that pretty ball, any other contributing factor age or injury is going to have more impact on the passes than if he threw a nice spiral.

Aqib Talib had a lot more to do with that loss than Peyton Manning did. While his accuracy was off and I think it's time for him to retire, Talib looked lost all day trying to cover Hilton, and it led to a lot of big plays for the Colts.

Also, much credit to the Colts D for outstanding tackling and great coverage on all the pick plays...they took away the Bronco Bread and butter. Manning completed a lot of passes but had very low yardage because his guys couldn't get any YAC.

Unknown to some, Payton Manning suffered a torn Quad muscle in his throwing arm . The truth always trumps wild speculation and imagination .

He DID win one Super Bowl, didn't he?
Thing is, it takes an entire team to win or lose. No matter how good or bad the QB might be, there are always many things that go into winning and losing.
Look at how many so-so QB's have won a SB, and how many "great" ones have only one, or even no SB wins. Dan Marino immediatly comes to mind.
Trent Dilfer has a SB ring.
The team has alot to do with a winning or losing season. Luck can sometimes play into it, too. (Not Andrew)[grin1]

It isn't like he was John Elway taking lousy teams and willing them to the Super Bowl. Peyton Manning always had a stacked team, more than enough to the get the job done. 9 one and dones make him a choker.

His team had nowhere near the talent as the Brady teams he is often compared to. Brady misses the season and the team goes 11-5.
