He will be a free agent. I like Matt Birk. Not only is he a Pro Bowl center, but he is a leader as well. When Randy Moss, in 2002, left the field with time left on the clock, Birk confronted Moss in the locker room, and then publicly called him out.

I would LOVE to have him on the Packers.

Too old, and probably too costly....plus, Spitz looks as though that is his natural position....he showed pretty well when he filled in for Wells.

Spitz will be the center, with Wells as the backup unless something happens that would require the team needing him back at guard.

Birk is 32 years old and was 5+ million dollar player last year, and I don't see him taking much less if any.

Birk was born exactly 2 years before me, so I guess I can't say, "No I don't want him."

I still don't see Wells as being our problem on the O-line.

Matt Birk would be an upgrade and that would allow the Packers to move Scott Wells to guard and keep Spitz at guard as well. It does give the Packers that leadership that they do lack right now.

I would welcome the signing though it's not like we have a choice. I think he's a good player with two or three years left in him and that's about what I think he'd sign for.

Birk is gonna be PRICEY, and he's starting to get old. BUT, he has charisa, he's a born leader. You say "inspirational leader" and Matt Birk is one of the few guys that pop into my mind. I think Matt Birk would work wonders for guys like Spits, Sitton, Colledge, Moll. Matt Birk's presence on our offensive line would instantly wring out every last drop of talent and effort out of the rest of the guys on our line.

Many people on the forum stated that Woodson was too old and too pricey when word got out that the Packers might look at him.

I was mad that the Packers signed Woodson and missed out on signing Lavar Arrington.
