REAL bacon in a chef's salad is as important as the cheese or the tomato. Other meats like ham or chicken should be in it as well, but never forget the bacon. Veggies are the foundation of a good salad, and the dressing is a matter of taste, yet the bacon completes the ensemble. [grin1]

McDonald's sells a fine Bacon-Ranch Salad. Occasionally I will bring one home and add to the chicken that comes with it.
First, I divide the salad into two portions and store one in the icebox.
Next, I add some onion, cucumber, boiled eggs, celery, olives, more cheese, and 3 strips of bacon(pieces) .
Then, as I like Russian or French Dressing, I use my own instead of the Ranch Dressing that I save for the future. Makes for a fine meal, with a spare in the refrigerator. šŸ˜
